He gets away with it in the walk it up and down Big 10 but come March he boards the bus back to Columbus after the 2nd round.
Looks like the same thing this year. This game against Duke has been in control since halftime. Yet 3 starters playing the whole game or damn near.
Good job Matta. Win the Big 10. Advance deep into the Big Ten tournament. Then come an early loss in the NCAAs wonder why an athletic team runs you off the court.

He wasn't talking about a bet, he was talking about over playing your starters in games that are over. Then they are out of gas come tourney time.

Matta has no class, this is common knowledge across the country. Doesnt make any sense to not play anyone but your top 7 until theres 2 mins left of a 23 pt game. I dont know why he does this. But yes OSU always looks great against unathletic teams. When they run into a frontline who can match them - UNC, Kentucky, everything changes for them.

Duke was playing it's deep, deep bench with 10 mins left in the game. K treated the game like it was over. Yet Matta didnt empty the bench or even go to player #8 until there was under 2 mins left.
Say what you want about K, he has class. Matta is not liked by other coaches. At all.

Not even sure it's a class thing. The guy just doesn't believe in developing a bench. I don't know if any other major program does this and it certainly doesn't work in March.
Yet nobody talks about it. They just love the stats.

Ohio State isnt going to win in March, AGAIN, b/c 1 or 2 of their top 7 will get into foul trouble early against an opponent with better athletes, and then Matta will have to turn to a couple guys he didnt play meaningful mins all season against good teams. Same thing has happened to them the past couple yrs in the NCAA's. This year will be more of the same. Duke is a tailor made matchup for those guys. One playmaker (Rivers), and a soft, slow frontcourt. Ohio St eats those opponents up all day b/c they stay out of foul trouble and dominate the paint. Watch Ohio St play a non-home game against a team with equal athletes and the game plays out much differently. UNC, Kentucky, Cuse, UConn to name a few.

Hey moron in post 8, coach K played into the bench at that point in the game because he wasn't happy with the starters not because he was giving up, rivers plumlee and other starters were back in the game till the very end,
