Thoughts on St Louis vs. New Mexico St...............

This spread is pretty heftly at -9.&#xD;&#xA;Apparently, NM St. has this 7&#x27;5" freshman center. He had a lot of blocks and points last game for their confrence championship.&#xD;&#xA;I still can&#x27;t see this guy being that big of an issue. St Louis takes too good of shots to be hindered by his presence.&#xD;&#xA;Also, size doesn&#x27;t necessarily translate to good rebounding. I think the guard play and ball movement for St Louis is just too good for New Mexico St.&#xD;&#xA;I see St Louis winning by 16. &#xD;&#xA;Thoughts anyone. Does anybody know much about New Mexico St?

sim Bhullarcannot wait for him to get some street cred. he is from Toronto and is 7-5 367 lbs. a monster down lowI think it&#x27;s extremely low scoring... 52-46 type...under 122.5 IMO

Take the under, NMSU has to wait 10 seconds for Sim Bhullar to get his fatass into the front court before they can even start their offense.

St louis is a smaller verison of wisconsin. New mex st will have to get easy shots and they won't.

I am not saying they will cover....but I initially thought New mex st in a teaser +17.5.......I just don't see them getting to 50 pts and that worries me.

It was a 3 pt game with Texas arlington with 2 mins left to go in the game against New mex st.........some how I don't think it will be a 3 pt game tomorrow.

Closest game on the yr new mex st can compare ST louis to is when they went to Ok state and scored 44 pts...lost by 25. Bhullar did NOT play that game....but the Arlington shows that it really doesn't matter....they can't pull away or score against bad games, this will be the best team they have seen all yr.

REALLY like the under in the first half.

St Louis is the mid major noone wants to face. New Mex St lucky to get in. They could use a 9&#x27;5" center to try to cover the 9 points. Billikens can go on an 8-0 run and then they are impossible to catch.

I think St Louis has the far better guard play. They control the tempo and should handle N. Mex St without problem. I dont see size being an issue for St Louis. They will be playing at a tempo that has this 7&#x27;5" behemoth tired by the 5 minute mark of the first half. St Louis just wares u down with their aggressive play. I see a St Louis blow out here.

NMSU alum here. I will go small on my Aggies but I think it is a fair and accurate line. A few points here:

-NMSU's strength is inside and getting to the foul line. Their weakness is guard play which includes shooting and defending the 3 and committing sloppy turnovers. Last year as a 13 seed Indiana blew us away with their 3s and precison passing. NMSU is notorious for playing to the level if competition and playing their best ball towards the end of the season. 3 years ago they gave Michigan state all they could handle as 13 point dogs.

In years past we were a running team but with 7'5" sim bhullar on the roster we are much more of a half court offense. Sim is a beast but he wears down very quickly. He is 380 pounds and just doesn't get down the court well. This probably keeps the score low. It is hilarious to watch the opening tip offs at the very least!

Of all the possible matchups of 13/4 seeds I like this the best for NMSU because it doesn't look like saint Louis is deadly from 3 point land and they don't have a coach with a proven NCAA tourney track record like tom crean or tom izzo. Still a very tough matchup but I see something like 62-55 saint Louis as the final.

Tex Arlington went to OKST and lost by 25 - not New Mexico St. New Mexico State faced New Mexico twice and lost by 15 on the road and 5 at home.

...kid won&#39;t be able to get out on him consistently. If St Louis gets an early lead it&#39;s a blowout. They are too poised and play great defense. I expect a 20 pt win here BOL everyone

I really like St. Louis as a team.  They are tough and gritty.  Believe it or not I think this will be a very difficult matchup for them.  I predict St. Louis will make it to the elite 8 if they get past this game.  I know that sounds crazy but New Mexico St. matchup wise could create some problems for them.  I think this game will come down to the wire.

Not sure why shooting 3&#x27;s became such an issue in this match up.  St Louis plays great D. They have very composed guards who control tempo and quarterback the offense. They rebound like its a matter of life and death. Well coached. Very disciplined with very few turnovers. Heck, what dont they do well ?

This game is a blowout, New Mexico St. sucks behind. Guard play for New Mexico St. is suspect, and St. Louis will run all over these fools. That big guy for New Mexico St. is slow and unathletic. He is big, but he'll get into foul trouble and that will be that as far as clogging up the middle. New Mexico St. is just an unorganized type team that runs and guns with no real direction.

I'll be surprised if this isn't a 15 to 20 point blow out.

I think Bhullar is actually disruptive to the NMSU offense. He only plays in couple minute spurts, and if the TV timeout is slow to arrive, he doesn&#x27;t make it past half court (it was pretty entertaining to watch when they played in Denver). The offense has to wait for him, and the defense plays 4 on5 until he trots to his position. He is slow and clumsy. I think St Louis wins this by double digits due to NMSU not having a clue what they want to do on offense.

I believe the Center for St Louis is Loe. He can step out and knock it down.  But more than that I think St Louis is a special team with great chemistry who plays great defense and rebounds very well. They force teams into alot of turnovers and dictate the pace    But to my point earlier if Loe can stretch the d and bring the monster out on the perimeter St Louis shouldhave a distinct advantage.

Thanks for the info. A major weakness of NMSU is that they commit a lot of stupid unforced turnovers. Ironically, this is one thing that STL does very well. I hope it doesn&#x27;t happen but can&#x27;t blame you for backing STL. BOL to you bro.

Another thing to keep in mind is the loss of Majerus earlier in the season. There seems to always be some special storylines with the successful teams and this may be one of those instances. Majerus' motto was... To win: defend, rebound. Now if that isn't the recipe for tourney success I don't know what is.

I can't look it up right now but I believe St Louis has covered the number against the last 9 .600 winning% or above teams they have played.

Love a play on Saint Louis. This team has typically trounced very good basketball teams during the season. Now an average New Mexico St. team is somehow going to stick with them and stay within nine? I highly doubt it and am going big on this game.

One of the posters mentioned Bhuller on D. Bhuller is going to sit in the paint in a zone defense... he wont be asked to chase Loe or Ellis to the 3 point line. He&#x27;s not really athletic but he&#x27;s not a complete stiff. If they attack him he could get in foul trouble and would get tired faster. It would be interesting to see Evans go to work down low.
