Live and die by the three......and doesn't put any emphasis on FT's. Attended many practices at Memphis while I was working on my degree in Athletic Training, and FT's were RARELY mentioned and worked on, even as the entire country and "Experts on TV" kept preaching how it was their achilles heel and that it would bite them..........and what happened against Kansas, Rose missed a FT to ice the game and they lose in overtime.
I had no money on this game so I feel for those of you that had UK and this isn't aimed toward you. But glad the Big Blue fans will be going home early.....goes to show you can't buy a National Championship by hiring a Coach like Cal just to get the Number 1 recruiting class in the country. And if they actually hired him because they thought he was a good coach, they are more idiotic than I thought. He is a Great Recruiter, Politician, Car Salesman, etc.......and will say Anything and Everything the school and it's fans want to hear. I know because I fell for it and witnessed it while at Memphis. Sometimes it's a tough lesson, but you truly wake up see how a person is once they are gone.
Congrats Huggy Bear, you deserve it much more than Cal!

If UK won they'd have been vacating the Final Four appearance anyways Im sure Bledsoe or Wall paid someone to take thier SATs. Cal is a great recruiter I like him good personality but hes a mediocre coach.

I went to Univ of Houston and we played many times against Memphis. Coach Cal sounds ALOT like coach Penders, just a better version. Hopefully we hire Gillispie here in a few days and never have to watch that crap basketball again.

I agree WestHam......he is a great recruiter, but next years classes show that he didn't do all the work as far as recruiting. We have the Number 1 class in the country coming to Memphis to play for a head coach who is only going to be starting his second year.......so that says a lot about how much work Pastner did last year with the class that is on the floor now for KY plus Xavier Henry.

a lot of college teams work on free throws before/after practice and on their own time. Why would a coach spend valuable practice time on something you can do on your own anywhere, anytime?
Maybe that's why you didn't see it at Calipari's "practices."

bushman, if you read the post you would see I said they were not even emphasized, mentioned, etc......much less practiced. And if guys actually practiced FT's "AFTER" practice as you say, then they would be better than they are. The writing is on the wall......you don't have to make excuses for them. They don't practice them period
