Why is Georgetown line going down?

Question

Earlier this year Georgetown plays at Depaul and was favored 4.5 and covered.  Now it is at home and lined opened at 4.5 now down to 3.5.  I thought Georgetown would be favored by at least 7.5.  Am I missing something? It would help if anyone can fill me in before I bet on this game.  Thx

The short answer is that despite what the won-loss records would indicate, the analytics/power ratings used to make lines consider these teams to be even:

KenPom:

#108 Georgetown

#112 DePaul

Sagarin:

#100 Georgetown

#120 DePaul

Haslametrics:

#106 DePaul

#111 Georgetown

CBB oddsmakers/power rankings do not care about the results of previous head-to-head matchups.

In this instance, you have dead-even teams playing @ Georgetown. The oddsmakers give DePaul 3-4 points as the road team and call it a day.

@JFen21&#xA;Thank you for sharing the stats.  Just curious why was DePaul was not favored when it was at home but Georgetown was.  &#xA;Damn it I guess it could go both ways.  But I think they will come out strong this game and play DePaul well and get that cover.  I am sure they are aware how badly they lost to Villanova and the coach wants his player to play harder.&#xA;GEORGETOWN BY 7.

this is one of gtowns only most &#x27;winnable&#x27; games left on its schedule, after this , as per kenpom they are predicted to lose literally every game left on the schedule.  i would hope this at least gives some motivation to the players, to get the easiest win they have left before the torture

How deep is Georgetown&#x27;s rotation, they are coming off double OT.revenge game for DePaul one could say.Georgetown has Creighton on deck who embarrassed them 90-66 earlier. If they look ahead then it&#x27;s a nasty sandwich right there.Maric isn&#x27;t out, he&#x27;s questionable. And so is the Hoyas Trey Dickerson. Careful when Senior point guards are hurt.Good Luck

Gtown with 4 days rest since their last game, so doubt the double ot will be a factor. also, doesnt really matter if dickerson is out, he barely even plays. hes lucky if he gets 10min a game. Maric is out is huge though, as he is a key role player and gets around 30 min per game
