Last season Clemson took their opener against SBC North Texas for granted. And they were lucky that North Texas wasnt a very confident team. North Texas dominated the time of possession (41:52 vs 18:08) and the first downs (25-15). However, Clemson was full of veterans, and they were quick scoring points.
This season Clemson is not that experienced and they a facing a much better SBC team, a team that lives for those games against marquee teams. Troy desperately needs a big, marquee, win to take their program to another level. This game against Clemson is a great test for the upcomming season where they are the main challenger for Florida International.
The key for Troy is the stability. Same head coach for 20+seasons, experienced team, 5 winning seasons in a row. As for Clemson, they are dissapointing season after season, their coach is in trouble and they lost tons of major talent from last season.
Troy +16 game
Army is just doing their thing. Run, run and more run. They are built to play on the road, and last season they played 5 road games and won all of them. That is probably the best strategy when facing a fast paced team that scores in bunches like Northern Illinois. If Army can keep the ball without turning it over, they will be OK.
Just like Troy, Army too is a stable program now. 3rd year for their head coach, and they improved in both of his first two years there.
As for Northern Illinois, they just keep on winning regular season games and losing when it counts the most. They could be better than last year but with a new head coach I prefer to wait and see before declaring them the best team in the MAC. And by the way, there are a few decent teams in the MAC now.
Army +11 game
Parlay: Army +11, Troy +16
Tease: Army +18, Troy +23
