Packers, what does this mean? Personnel changes yes, but the X & Os of the ASU offense will remain the same. Norvell has been on Graham's staff through Tulsa, Pitt & ASU. Call it west coast or anything else you want, it's the same offense in '15.
Here's a few things on ASU. I'm sure Boom & others can add to this.
Leading '14 rusher DJ Foster moves to WR in '15. Out of the backfield, he's had 62 & 63 receptions, respectively, the last two seasons for 600+ yards each year (2nd leading receiver).
Stud WR Jaelen Strong (6'-4") declared early for the NFL.
Leading WR that returns, Cameron Smith, is out for '15 with ACL injury. Believe there's a recent late JC WR signee with ASU. Don't know much about him, but apparently they need the depth.
Coaches like the three young RBs alot; enough to move Foster. Demario Richard is coming off a four TD bowl game. Ballage and "Gump" Hayes getting some positive press as well. Ballage a strong kick returner as well.
The offense did put two TEs on the field at the same time some in '14. We'll see if that continues in '15 with Kohl returning. TBD on his new TE running mate, if they go that route some more.
O-line returns C, LG, RG, but loses both starting tackles. QB protection was somewhat of an issue in spring practice.
Defense returns 9 starters. Last offseason ASU returned only 2 starters, so they could/should be much improved. They run a 3-4 so D-ends are big; many guys 290+ lbs.
Starting NT Jaxon Hood is supposedly back in town and about to rejoin team. Guess we'll wait and see.
When NT Mo Latu rotates in he's enormous. ASU lists him as 6'-2", 397 lbs.
All four starting LBs (includes rush end) return in '15.
3 of 4 starting DBs return.
