New to Covers. Just recently discovered the site and all the great content. My first post here. I'm really not a college football guy. Have just begun getting into it recently.
Question: I am heading to Vegas soon, and was thinking about placing a heft futures bet on who wins the Heisman this year. I've been doing a lot of research, reading every article, etc. that I can find on the matter. From what I can gather so far, it seems to be a 2 man race between Deshaun Watson from Clemson and Leonard Fournette of LSU.
At first, I was thinking of going all in on Watson but I've been seeing that lots of writers think Fournette may get it this year.
Watson seems to be the sexy pick, is a QB, dominated last year and is only set to get better this year. Clemson's offense is going to be insane this year apparently. My only potential concern with him is possibly injuries, Clemson's D possibly slipping in a game or so, and the FSU game on the road. If I was going to get one guy to win the Heisman though, it would be him. However, hearing that LSU is going to be really solid and they get Alabama at home this year.
McCaffrey was a beast last year, but wit hthose numbers, he still didn't win, and with the loss of of his QB and several O line members, I don't think Stanford will be as good and don't think he will win it.
I think the Heisman comes down to Watson ad Fournette, and with the exception of some crazy surprise, I think it's a real good shot that one of these 2 win it. I was thinking of going big on both of them winning it (hedging my bet that way). Or am I crazy?
What do you guys think? Any thoughts? Any other serious Heisman contenders? I'm not really looking for value, more like looking to pick the winner and hit big.
Any and all feedback from you pros is greatly appreciated.

Do you really think so?? How likely do you think it is that FSU beats Clemson?? That game scares me if I pick Watson to win the Heisman. I think that game could really go either way.
Do you think Watson wins the Heisman if Clemson loses 1 game, and that loss is to FSU??
What if LSU beats Alabama?? I know LSU is solid, but apparently hey have a reputation for underachieving with Miles as coach. I fear picking Fournette and LSU loses a couple of games like last year.
Cook is unlikely if you ask me. The only RB I can see winning the Heisman this year would be Fournette possibly.

A good dark horse for the heisman is Jabrill Peppers of Michigan. He is primarily a defensive player but will be playing offense and special teams as well. This year Don Brown will have him playing both SAM linebacker and some safety. He will be all over the field and heavily used on the blitz. He is as athletic as ANYONE in the country. Very exciting player to watch. He was the #2 recruit is his class behind only Fournette.
