1. Toledo 7-5 {That loss to Akron in their last game may have bit them in the a$$
2. Texas State 6-6{They beat 1 bowl eligible team and all 6 losses were to bowl eligible teams}
3. Western Kentucky 8-4{ This 1 is tough to justify leaving out but we all know about bowl politics. It'll help them going to C-USA next year}
4. Central Michigan 6-6{ I'm sad they didn't get in but i didn't think they would especially when Bowling Green won the MAC}
5. Troy 6-6{All 6 losses were to bowl eligible teams. Keep your eye on Troy next year their schedule sets up for them to win 9-10 games}
6. Florida Atlantic 6-6{All 6 losses were to bowl eligible teams but after starting 2-6 after Pelini got fired give them credit for not giving up}
7. San Jose State 6-6{ Losing to Nevada and losing that 3 OT game to Navy bit them in the a$$ most likely}
8. UL-Monroe 6-6{All 6 losses came to bowl eligible teams plus Browning missed time to injury}
9. South Alabama 6-6{ lost 4 games by 1 or 2 points including to Southern Utah. Give Coach Jones credit though they were 3-6 and won their last 3 games}
Next year guys we'll have 39 bowls and 78 bowl eligible teams. The MAC,C-USA,AAC and Sun Belt have created their own bowls so they don't get left behind in the new world order of college football. Whether you care or not about these teams i follow all of college football so i wanted to inform everyone of who got left out. And those teams had good seasons so congrats to all
BOL guys have a great bowl season

well BWS thats why they've created their own bowl games with other leagues. It'll be an 11 team Sun Belt next year. Didn't help the league that Ga.State went 0-12 either. I believe the Sun Belt next year has 4 bowl tie-ins next year but that seems to change week to week anymore

why don't those 4 small conferences have their own 4 team playoff just like the big boys?? It could be the 4 conf champs or a committee seed the top 4.

bulldog i think when the power conferences break away from the NCAA{which will happen in the next few years} The smaller leagues will have their own 8-16 team playoff.

So Bama was not technically eligible, even with the 6 wins, because they are a "transitioning". If there were not enough 6 win teams, they could have gone to a bowl.

thorpe according to al.com South Alabama was eligible for a bowl this year. QB Ross Matheny said after the win vs UL-Lafayette "To be bowl eligible in the 1st year possible speaks to our coaching staff players and everyone involved"
UTSA had i believe 7 wins and had a 2 year transition. nevertheless South Alabama and UTSA have taken big steps this year imo
BOL thorpe in the bowls sir

So are the new bowls those conferences created only open to teams in those conferences? And does that make them ineligible to play in bowls outside of those? Pardon my ignorance, but i didn't have any clue that they were doing that.

wheaty i'll try to answer as best as i can. The new bowls for next year are:
1. The Camellia Bowl in Montgomery,AL MAC vs Sun Belt
2 The Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park. AAC vs a school from either C-USA,Mountain West,MAC or Sun Belt
3. The Boca Raton Bowl.The 2 teams will be from either the C-USA,MAC or AAC
4. The Bahamas Bowl C-USA vs the MAC
There will be as of now 39 bowls next year. These leagues also have bowl tie-ins to games other than ones they created. But this quote i will put here is from a story on ESPN.com has to why these conferences created their own bowls
"The non-power leagues were denied oppourtunities in other bowls,so they had to create oppourtunites for themselves"
Basically the power conferences are done for the most part with the little guy. Barry Alavrez told me that at a dinner i went to where he was the honoree. He was signing autographs there as well and i got a helmet signed. The guy in front of me asked him a question about the non-power schools and he looked at me like i asked the question and said "I'm done sharing with the little guy. I'm done living in a world where Cal State Bakersfield gets the same vote as me when we in a day make more than they do"
It is what it is guys. Thats why they'll break away soon
Hope i helped wheaty BOL to you sir

I could be wrong, but I heard it from the announcers for the ULL/Jaguars game. But no one else seems to be reporting it that way.

wheaty its coming whether the NCAA wants to see it or not. Power schools don't need the NCAA
thorpe i did more research and wikipedia said they were bowl eligible. Obviously the Sun Belt had 5 teams left out of a bowl but still a nice year for South Alabama
auburntigers you should as they've played well. Coach jones sent me a signed photo You should go to the home game next year vs Navy imo
