Both teams are from inferior conferences, however this may be one conference the MAC can say they are better than....however Troy is the best in the Sun Belt Conference.
Defense is going to be the key to my play here.
Ohio Offense: #39 rushing, however #105 in passing. #53 in scoring offense. They are #30 in sacks allowed so the QB will have some time in the pocket.
Troy Defense: This is trouble....#80 against the run, #101 in pass defense, #92 in points allowed and #66 in turnover margin.
Troy Offense: Very good, but against bad teams in the conference for most of the year. #64 rushing, #12 passing, #24 total offense and #27 in scoring. #118 in KO returns will be a problem.
Ohio Defense: #14 against the rush, #61 in passing, #28 in total defense. They are #34 in scoring allowed and with the #9 punting team in the nation they could be a winner in the field position game.
Tidbits: Ohio is 8-4 ATS and Troy is 4-8.
Troy is 2-6 ATS when favored and Ohio is 2-1 as a dog
Troy is 2-5 ATS on turf and this will be Ohio's first game.
Ohio has the #4 best FG game in the country vs. #75 Troy......could be a problem in close game.
I like Ohio's strength of schedule over Troy, a little bettere conference, a better defense and better Kicking and Punting game.
