I had two large wagers today.
Northwestern +6.5 and Oregon +4
What the F?! could be two of the worst beats all year.
The NorthWestern one was sickening, much much worse of a beat than Oregon. I had Northwestern plus Tennessee ML so it didn't affect me at all since Tenn lost before the game ended but still I am almost glad Tenn lost so I didn't have to go through that trauma.
Condolences for your brutal, brutal losses.

The gambling gods are capricious. We are here to entertain them. You can't do that if you are fish food. As they taketh away, they also giveth. Therefore, manage your bankroll, come back sharper next week. As much as they enjoy our misery on a bad beat (or 2 or 3), they also share in the joy of a great win, rolling around with nubile young women on a bed covered with 100 dollar bills :)
Good luck,
Hail,

It's gross but this is how gambling is, especially in college. Do yourself a favor and keep a notebook and jot down how many games are within one score of the spread late in the 4th that make you sweat it out (stopping the clock on every 1st down doesn't help), how many leads get blown.
You'll soon find that it's rare that any bet is safe, and it's often a sweat. It can be torture. But if it is you might be betting too much. Or you might have better peace of mind if you just stop gambling altogether. Which is what I would recommend if losing makes you lose sleep or be miserable for days after.
Unfortunately some people are like alcoholics who will get hammered, be dying of a hangover, totally miserable for a whole day or few days, but then as soon as the bad feeling wears off they start the cycle all over again. An unlucky loss will annoy me like hell sometimes, but for no more than a few hours at most and never makes me lose sleep. But I bet reasonable amounts especially early on the season. Still, I will rant about a small loss if it is a crazy beat, like Phil Hellmuth at rhe poker table, but tbh that venting helps me get over it quickly.
And I feel ya. I had Oregon and FSU myself. But I also had Nevada which was a miracle comeback Friday night, Wake Forest Moneyline another miracle that night.
and yesterday had 2 other lucky wins. FAU +28 they were down that much after less than 10 minutes and came back to cover. Eastern Michigan -6 they went down 10-0 1st quarter. made it 10-7 and then were about to take the lead and fumbled on the goal line. then had a 10 point lead and let CCU get inside the 20 twice in the last 5 mins of the game, had a PI flag in the end zone get picked up after a ref discussion, then CCU missed a chip shot FG, but they went 3 and out, CCU hit the FG the 2nd time, but we're up 7 only needed to recover the onside kick and it's over. But the idiots let the ball bounce by them and CCU got the onside and could have scored, threw towards the end zone luckily it was picked.
So these things WILL even out, but you tend to only remember the bad beats not the lucky wins. Try to work hard to remember the good ones too.
And very important, you must bet unit amounts that will allow you to absorb bad beats along the way. If a few bad beats wipes out your bankroll then that's when you will be miserable and it will be of no comfort to hear anyone tell you it will even out when you can't afford to keep playing anyway.
Don't try to get it all back in one bet either. Just keep steady. And no bridges. I know youre not serious but just thought Id mention an article I once read about people who survived jumping off the Golden Gate bridge. Literally ALL of them said they were overcome with intense regret on the way down and wanted to live. one guy said as he plummeted down, 'I could hear nothing, not even the air whooshing by my ears, except a voice in my head that said: All my problems were fixable.'
I always tell people that story even when I am 99.9% sure that their comments about suicide are just venting. Because I unfortunately have known people who killed themselves with gambling debts a likely factor. Google which addiction has the highest suicide rate. And which US city.
And on that note, I like Oklahoma to cover tonight at home ;)
