I am watching one of the greatest coaches of ALL TIME right now. Bill Snyder and Kansas St. Now, don't get me wrong. This guy has long been one of my favorites AND his decision just now is one that almost every single coach would make. Even Mike Leach lol. But he's trailing 34-14 with less than 14 minutes left and he has a 4th and 11 near midfield. And he PUNTS!!!! LOL
What in the world are you hoping to accomplish? Obviously, he is giving up and hoping to only lose by three TD's instead of four. That's exactly what almost all coaches try and do. Try to lose by 20 instead of 30. Punt and hope the other team never scores and you look bad but not horrible. But that's a LOSING mentality. If you go for it, you could WIN. Of course, the odds are against it, but you are DOWN BY 20 points!!!! This is why I say it's a losing mentality. There's little downside. But there's a MAJOR upside if you get it.
Now for those of you that say, but....but....maybe they'll punt and stop them and score and then stop them and score and then stop them and score all in 13 minutes. LMAO at you losers. That's not how you win games. Always try to win.
Again, not to rip the great Bill Snyder, who's one of my faves of all time and an all around great coach aside from managing a game. Because most coaches do this stuff. but if you want to win games like this, you try to get first downs. Not punt when trailing by 20 in the 4th quarter.

Not mad at all. As you can see in my thread, I had no wager on the game, and it really had little effect on most bettors, I would imagine. Simply making an observation that I realized about 30 years ago. Most coaches just try to lose by 20 and punt, and end up losing by 27, rather than trying to win.
