If the top 4 teams win the rest of their regular season games and Bama loses to Georgia in the SEC Championship while Michigan and Clemson win their conference championship games, what will be the committee's final rankings?
Michigan being left out as 12-1 Big Ten champs would be hard to imagine considering their only loss was to #2 ND by 7 points on the road at the beginning of the season. Michigan would have an impressive resume.
Alabama is universally regarded as the best team in the country and if they lose to Georgia they would have the same record as Michigan but they would not have won their conference. Their loss to Georgia would be to a top 5 team in Atlanta.
Who would the committee put in the 4th spot? Is there a chance that the Big 12, Pac 12, and Big Ten all get left out??? I'm curious to know what people on this board think would happen.

the great debate will be if Irish lose & Mich win out
Both 1 loss but Dane won head to head
I’d think they put Dame in based on head to head
If Clem loses this weekend then everything changes
Bama can lose to uga & they are in, especially since LSU is ranked 7, it’s clear comm thinks Bama is far superior to everyone, when you lose at home by 4 tds & get shoutout & are still at 7, all you need to know

I don't know about that. I think if ND loses down the stretch and Michigan wins out, Michigan will be in the playoffs at #3 and the final spot would go to ND or Oklahoma if the Sooners win out. I could see Oklahoma getting the nod because 12-1 is greater than 11-1.
I'm still not sure if Alabama is an automatic choice if they lose to Georgia.

I’m not sure about the others but I’m 100% on Bama

the ranking they gave LSU tells the story & the comm has made it clear that they are choosing the 4 best teams
nobody on earth thinks there are 4 teams better than Bama & a loss to a top 5 team with a 29 point win in Death Valley
I think it’s a guarantee , I’d be stunned if they didn’t make it, it would be a travesty honestly & I don’t cheer for Bama , simply no way there are 4 teams better
fun to chat about though, would be cool if we saw live debate from the committee , we should get that in the future I’d think

I'm still not convinced that if Michigan beats Ohio State on the road and wins the Big Ten championship game that they'd be left out of the playoffs. I think if they win out, they're in because of the way they've dominated ranked teams this year. Not to mention, they're a huge national brand with Jim Harbaugh as their coach and they've been building towards a year like this for a long time. Alabama losing to Georgia is probably not going to happen but if it does, I think the committee will take Michigan over Bama instead of taking 2 SEC teams they way they did last year.

The precedent was set last year... You don't even have to win your division and play in a conference championship game to be considered one of the 4 best teams.
Win your conference? Congrats, but don't expect anything from that
Honestly... take the Big10... say Ohio State beats Michigan and wins the Championship game (tough scenario to see, but follow along...). What happens then? They are not better than Bama or Clemson. Undefeated ND is probably gonna get benefit of doubt because they won all games and didn't lose by 40 to Purdue. The perception of Michigan goes back to them being a decent team that lost to ND's #2 QB and should have lost to NW. Big10 should be kept out at that point.
Fly in the ointment? Syracuse. They take out ND and then it gets interesting.
