Only if the national title was their goal.
I disagree that Mich St. is playing meaningless games.
If a team like Mich St. fights their way into a BCS bowl, that's a b a d a s s year for them. They were never going to play in the national championship game.
A team like Oregon is playing meaningless football now.

So in your mind, even if Auburn beats Alabama and then wins the SEC Championship, they have no shot at the BCS title game?
First of all let's just put FSU into the NCG as they will be there, that leaves 'Bama, Ohio St., Baylor, Oregon, Auburn and Missouri as their possible opponents (Clemson has no shot at ACC title let alone BCS).
I don't think that it would be a stretch to say that AU would jump Oregon and Ohio St. even if they both won out. The Tiger's BCS computer ranking is currently .870 compared to OSU's .850 and Oregon's .780 and with final victories against the #1 team and a likely Top 10 team compared to what the other two teams have left to play, that number will only swell. That leaves only 'Bama and Baylor left to jump. How could the BCS not put AU ahead of the 'Tide? Auburn would be 12-1 and SEC Champions with a victory over an 11-1 Alabama team that finished second in the SEC West. Baylor would clearly have to lose at either OK.St., TCU, or against Texas, the Bears will be more than a touchdown favorite against all of them but you never know.
Will the Auburn Tigers play in the BCS Title game ? Probably not, but I guarantee you that Coach Malzahn and most of Lee County, Alabama think that they can be there.
