Really great start to the season in both NFL and here in CFB. I guess to be expected since annually these are my best sports along with soccer, which I have not posted. That being said, please remember all BIG PLAYS count double on the record for both wins and losses. Missed an undefeated weekend by Cincinnati's meltdown last week. So I'll move on to this week.
Not a TON I like but a ton of games so will have to again try and be selective (or get lucky like I did with that Oklahoma State over last week). With new conferences starting that means new, unconventional playing styles clashing against coaching staffs that haven't seen them before. I will err on the side of caution this week with that in mind.
LSU (-6): Despite losing the opening game to LSU, Nussmeier was solid, throwing for over 300 yards and I look for more of the same today albeit in a winning effort. Six points is a lot to drop on the road but I don't question oddsmakers especially in CFB unless of course I see an opportunity they have missed. The problem with LSU's offense is running the football. John Emery Jr. was the lead back against USC but tore his ACL and is done for the season, which means Kaleb Jackson and Josh Williams will be the tandem backs. But they didn't perform so well last week so this will be a real test to see how legitimate LSU can be this year.
The problem for LSU has been the defense, especially the corners, but South Carolina likes to run the ball a lot more than others and with a running QB I think the key to the game will be containing him. The Gamecocks do have a really great pass rush so I would think LSU tries to establish the run here and bleed out a win. Plus LSU plays at a very slow pace so far this season but I wouldn't mind if they changed that up for this week. I'm dropping the 6 with an LSU team who have won the last 7 against South Carolina and 5 of which have come by double digits.
OVER 62 (WVU/PITTSBURGH): Pitt has one of the fastest pace of plays in the country. The public is loving WVU who really didn't show up against Penn State and were thrown off but a massive weather delay. Regardless they were able to score against a really strong Penn State defense and Pitt's defense is nothing in comparison. On the other side the Mountaineers defense is susceptible to giving up points and I see Pittsburgh trying to keep the good times rolling after last weeks' comeback win. Rivalry game so I suppose a close affair is in store but I'm more comfortable backing the over here.
I have a few more games I like that I will post shortly. Want to get these first couple out for anyone who wants to back and tail. Always do your own research, keep comments positive and, as always, tail or fade, good luck to all..

Wow LSU really looks asleep hoping maybe for a reverse in the 2nd half or we might get a rare loss. I also have never been a fan of Kelly as I think he's a selfish guy who only looks out for his own best interests then makes excuses when they go awry. Good recruiter not a great coach.
I am adding another game now as I just really see a fight upcoming.
TULANE (+13.5)...BIG PLAY!!!: Oklahoma has played two games and I've not been impressed with either of them. The first was against lowly Temple and while I thought they might be a bit more of a unit than I gave credit for, then last week vs. Houston happened. Of course, they keep winning so their ranking hasn't moved but their ability to blow teams completely out I think is not in the conversation at this point of the season. Part of the problem is that they are SEVERELY short at WR, one of their prized positions usually, and that is making it hard for them to put a lot of points on the board. On the other side, Tulane has an extremely exciting QB in Darien Mensah who has been finding ex-Oklaoma WR Mario Williams. And I think Williams will be more than motivated to put up a show this week being back in Norman.
Tulane is better than Houston and way better than Temple. They probably should have won last week vs. Kansas State whom I think is very very good if not for a late turnover by the aforementioned Mensah. I think they are a very sound offense and on defense are good enough to limit a hampered Oklahoma offense. I'm not sure I see the Green Wave winning here but I'm also not so sure I see the Sooners in a blowout. I'll gladly take the points in my second BIG PLAY of the CFB season.
I'll check back in shortly but for now I'm going to hope LSU wakes up and can somehow get it close to potentially adjust at halftime and cover the 2nd half. Hoping everyone is having a great morning.

Tulane is really good not sure who else is on them but the public I know is all over them. I personally just feel that they have an offense that can put some points on the board and the loss of the OK receivers will keep the game respectable.
But unless Sellers doesn't come out of the tunnel for SC in the 2nd half, gonna be a long uphill climb that I don't think LSU will make and cover. If Sellers is done for the game, will be an incredibly lucky thing and if LSU can't turn the scoreline around, they will be in real trouble for the rest of the season.

GEORGIA (-22): I watched South Carolina and was more impressed with them than I was planning to be. But that's not saying much because I had my money on LSU and the turnovers killed that game. I don't see Georgia doing anything less than what South Carolina did to Kentucky last week. The Dawgs are ranked top for a reason and after seeing Alabama for the past few weeks it says a lot about how they are viewed by the outside world, including oddsmakers. Their defense is great and generally Georgia seems to put up points on the road. I was close to siding with the OVER but I can see a Georgia blowout and would hate to be on the right side of a lopsided scoreline but have it still stay under. Georgia can do that to teams.
Looking at a few other games but really want to get the Tulane big play in would really make the day especially if the WVU/Pitt game can find a way to get over that number. Hope everyone is having a great afternoon.

Go Dawgs…. But Bama is on deck next week for UGA, I think they win 31-13 and try not to get people hurt this week in anticipation for a slugfest and revenge next week.
