OSU isn’t as good as I thought and the Ducks are better. It happens. I’m going back to a conference I actually know, the Big 12.
OSU is a terrible first half team. They aren’t a much better 2nd H team either. Against Power 5 teams this year they have trailed by 7+ points. The only Power 5 BYU wasn’t up by more than a TD is SMU, which is a talented offense team. Ollie Gordon cannot move the ball running it at 3.8 per carry and only 64 yards per game. That includes Tulsa and SDST. Against Power 5 teams Alan Bowman is right over 50% competition rate. Not good. He has thrown for 275 yards per game which is good but it’s because they are behind so much. He will throw an INT and someone will fumble the ball.
Another item of note is OSU spends 2.7 million on NIL deals which is far below what most top schools are spending. You know Boon Pickens would have opened the wallet for OSU but cste la vie. BYU on the other hand says it has one of the most lucrative NIL brands and using the money as a team wide incentive, every player gets something. Which is a good thing.
BYU defense only giving up 16.33 ppg. I think OSU will get most of theirs in the second half but BYU will still cover the 9.5 it’s at now.
BYU -5.5 6x
BYU -9.5 3x
