Michigan; last year I thought they would establish the run game, slow the game down and not cover. Dead wrong, they blew out Central Mich. with wide open offense. RB's stunk and they still blew them out.
This year new OC Nussmier from Bama. Focus is on run game, RB's look better. But the O-line is big ??? Freshman starting at left tackle, first time in Mich. history. Are they that bad or is this kid Cole that good? QB Gardner can cover the spread by himself. Question is; will Nuss turn him loose or try to press the run game?Defense will be the best in a long time. Going to play a lot of man on man and a lot of blitz packages. Much more aggressive.
App St played Goergia last year down only 14-6 at halftime. The bulldogs then owned the second half 31-0. Maybe looking ahead to Auburn. Final 45-6.
With AppSt's running back Cox out thinking Mich will cover, but not over confident. They throw a lot of short passes and Mich. has had trouble in past, i.e. Indiana last year with that type of game. Then again the Wolv. secondary looks really good this year and App St lost a lot of experience in the receiving core.
The key for UM is too stop the dink passes in their tracks, no YAC's. Think they will do it with the aggressive mentality they now have. No more bend but don't break.
Sooooo, leaning that yes, UM covers. May include them in a small parlay, but that's it.

Only the media has Hoke on the "hottest hot seat". He will get one more year regardless, IMO. Team is still young, few seniors. They just need to win and they NEED the running game to return! Blowouts not required. Looks like the D is best unit by far. Gardner will show improvement under Nuss and WR's are very good, not great, yet. Lost WR J. Gallon but have a couple nice freshman and 6'5" Funches. Best tightend out til Oct. One of the biggest problems last year was team unity, chemistry. They are claiming it is now in the right direction.
Expect UM to come out balanced run/pass and open a nice lead. But then may go right to the ground game to gain confidence and experience. Afterall, Notre Dame is next up. That's what has me hesitant, they could be up by, say 21, and then be very predictable and rely on the D.
