Hawai'i Point Shaving Scandal

I&#x27;ve heard about this a couple weeks ago before the Utah St. game and before it became public but wasn&#x27;t sure of what to make of it. Hawaii was on such a roller coaster ride this season and with all the preseason hype about the warriors favorite to win the WAC and Bryant Moniz being a heisman candidate and now how their season turned out, that all the allegations could or could not be true. But it&#x27;s not looking good for Hawaii. We could go all the way back to week 3 where the warrior were 21 point favs @ UNLV and lost by 20. Hey but it&#x27;s football right... Anything could happen on any given day. Plus everyone knows Hawaii doesnt play good on the road. But then a couple weeks later Hawaii was @ San Jose favored by 6 where with 11:46 left in the 4th quarter Hawaii scored to make it 27-20 pending the extra. The extra point was blocked by San Jose and returned to make it 27-22. Then with a little over a minute left Hawaii had the ball in Spartan territory 4th and less than a football length Hawaii decides to punt instead of trying to get the first down to end the game. What happens next? San Jose drives down the field and scores a touchdown with 0:32 and win 28-27. Yeah the spread wasn&#x27;t gonna cover but all those who played Hawaii ML also lost. Again they were on the road. But then here comes the one that makes all this stand out. The Utah St game at home where they opened as high as 10 pt favs but were bet down to 3 pt favs by game time. Hawaii took a 28-7 lead into halftime but then let the Aggies (with its second string qb because the starter got hurt in the first quarter) come back and win 35-31. Everyone I talk to about it always brings up one name in particular about shaving points (Moniz). I may catch a lot of heat for putting his name out there because so far all that has come out is just a unanimous letter with unspecified people but I&#x27;m just telling u what I heard. Take what I&#x27;m saying for what it&#x27;s worth but this is an island and word gets around here fast like wildfire. Especialy cause everyone knows everyone. Now after the Fresno St game this past weekend peoe are now calling for coach Mac to be fired. My opinion is to stay away from Hawaii games for the rest of the season. At least till this all gets sorted out. But if all these allegations are true it would really disgust me.

I got burned on the Utah St. game and KNEW SOMETHING had to be up! Keep in mind I'm not one of those guys that thinks every game I've lost was due to a fix.

I've been gambling for a looooooong time and I've seen some strange/fishy stuff but this one took the cake. it was SO obvious. It was like Hawaii didn't even TRY to hide the fact that the fix was on.

Im having a hard time not betting Tulane catching 16.5 with all the distractions, but Tulane is pretty horrible and has had a hard time staying within that number with other similar opponents.

Interesting to hear your take on the information that you have provided involving the scandal. The game incidents you described all are very fishy, but road performances can easily be dismissed on teams traveling to/from Hawaii. Thus, harder to pinpoint..

I had them on the ML as like 20 pt faves vs UNLV to close out the last leg of a huge ML parlay and they fucked me.

I watched that game, and they had like 3 fumbles in 5 minutes at one point, the QB just looked like he was giving the game away. B/c the game was in Vegas I thought it was shady as shit, so these reports don't surprise me at all.

Watching that game I was convinced that Hawaii was on the take....

from a handicappers perspective, this is probably the only part of this story that we should be worrying about right now... nothing we can do about the money these bitches already stole from us...i would tend to agree that they will rip Tulane a new one... teams don&#x27;t like it when they are accused of losing on purpose, even when it&#x27;s true!... they generally take it out on the next opponent that comes their way...books are keeping this game on the board because the average idiot will not put their money anywhere near Hawaii... but reality is, this is the first time all year you can count on them to put forth some effort...
