Has anyone here been thinking about taking the points against Bama? I mean how many points is too many with Bryce young at QB in his first start? How bad is Miami to just get slaughtered like this in the first game? We all know bama always just rolls out new talent, but they lost more offensively than about is possible for them much less any college team. How much can we trust Bryce at QB? From what I have seen of him, I absolutely do not with my money laying 3 scores. Unless Saban just gives Miami the old fashioned 2011 era type beating because their defense is back and Miami can't do anything, I just can't lay these points..
but that makes you go back to the question, can you really TAKE the points with the Canes against Bama either?

Consider this is coming from a Bama homer, who is always concerned we are going to slip up. Coach seems to go easy on the small schools that come to get a paycheck, but no matter what big name school he gets to open up the season (which is a great idea to make the guys work hard all summer, in that heat) - he usually sticks it to them pretty good.
I am usually worried with all the personnel and coaching losses, but he just keeps chugging along with whoever he has. King, the Miami qb has talent, but I think our defense is actually going to get back to what we are used to in terms of pass rush and tackling. I try not to bet on Alabama too often due to my homerism, but these opening games are usually free money. I jumped on this line as soon as I could, my biggest fear in a lot of these games is Saban rotating in guys to get them experience and protect the starter for the dreaded backdoor cover.
I think Secret has a good point, that 1st half should be money, I may add that as well. Already locked in to the full game, scared of the total until I see how Bryce does (apparently did very well in practice, going against pretty talented guys).
Good luck, I would stay away from Miami unless you think they can get a back door at the very end.
Cheers,

Gotta consider Miami. Bama is a machine, but game 1 replacing so many people is gonna take a bit. So many of Bamas scores were timing routes from Mac to Devonta....I doubt that timing will be the same. Harris and Waddle gone.....Its not like Miami doesn't get players....
I'm not saying I'm taking the U, but don't think I can lay 3 scores here....

I tend to think this might be one of the best Bama defenses we've seen in quite some time. Only losing Barmore, Moses, and Surtain off a pretty good defense in 2020... one guy at each level and Moses was never quite the same to me following his injury.
Miami on the other hand also returns 19/22 starters and added UGA safety Tyrique Stevenson who played very well in the bowl against Cincy.
Game is probably a pass for me. A slight lean towards the Bama 1H or Under. I'd want to see the point total get over 63 before I play though.

BAma defense is going to shut down the Miami offense. Bama O will find it self mid way through and put up 28-31 points. But more importantly the Defense will not let Miami score more then 7 points and the garbage TD will not happen against this Defense. So Bama is a solid full game bet. NOt sure of the first half. But full game is Bama.

Sounds like your best bet is the Miami TT U21.5

The concern I have with Bama is QB Young. He has a slight frame and he did not impress me when he came in last season. With that said, I don’t trust Miami. No play for me ATS…

the problem for miami since they've been "back" is o line. if it's still a problem they are in big trouble. they definitely have the players at skill positions to score, but if your o line can't hold up that won't matter. bol

My cap on Bama is 35-38 pts first game vs a quality opponent. Is this a lay off game?
No way!
Pick your side/angle and move on it before too much intel locks in VEGAS handicappers and their AI
You may be onto something here Train... but I always thought it would be a play for me with the line if I think I could get near 7-10 pts each half or more and I put more faith in King being motivated than I do having Saban being motivated to open up his playbook for his new QB
What to do , what to do eh?
Proving is hard. Talk is easy.

i agree with the one alabama fan who says saban's margin of victory against good and bad teams is very small relative to other teams.
i haven't checked game logs. but it strikes me M/F gets badly outplayed when they play a top 5 team.......
the 3 big florida teams have been beaten badly on in-state recruiting the past 4-5 years or so.. and it seems like you have to cast your net pretty wide to get elite OL/DL... note: M/F is turning the corner on this to some degree i think. but won't see effects for a year or two

The ? seems to be the 'bama offense...but their defense more than makes up for that---still, King is a quality QB who may cause problems I can t lay those points for that reason.

My gut is telling me Miami covers, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think the line may be inflated by 4 to 7 points...but there is no telling how good Bama is, they are the one team where it doesn't matter how much they lose to the NFL, they have 40 guys waiting to step in

I know it's a new season and there are questions about ALA offensively but I can't get MIA's two big games last year out of my mind, 42-17 trouncing to Clemson and 62-26 annihilation to UNC. MIA was supposed to be much improved then and was never in either of those games. It's a no play for me but no way can I back MIA until they prove they can hang with a top tier team.

While this is easy to see happening, and the fear of betting Miami is because of this.. BUT there is still the fact that it's another dynamic mobile QB that's always been the exact type to give bama trouble (if he's healthy), let's also not forget this is the very guy at OC and system for Miami that has had success against Saban at Auburn.. These are just things to consider, gotta look at all angles.

Very hard to bet against them... but this is also a step up over who they've played in recent years. Not only replacing their QB, best receiver, and best running back, but also the OC. Smith/Waddle were much better IMO than Metchie/Bolden, and Najee is better than Robinson. We've only really seen Bryce Young in garbage time.
2020 Missouri 38-19 (Finished 5-5 and unranked)
2019 Duke 42-3
2018 Louisville 51-14
2017 #3 Florida State 24-7 (Finished 6-6 and unranked)
2016 #20 USC 52-6 (Finished 10-3 ranked #12; by far most impressive opener)
