Bovada is crap when it comes go getting spreads out and the juice they put on games, but they always come out with player and team prop bets which I like.
This one caught my eye.
National Championship
Team to receive opening kickoff - Oregon or Ohio State - The odds are the same for each.
I feel that this is heavily favored towards Oregon. Going back to Chip Kelly days, they want the ball first. Checking this year, I found six games where Oregon won the toss and they chose to receive the ball everytime.
Checking for Ohio State - well first off ESPN didn't keep track of who won the toss after the 7th game. Then, out of those 7 they only won the 2x in those games. They defer 1x and receive 1x.
I believe in the Alabama game, Urban Meyer chose to defer.
The norm these days seems to be defer the opening kickoff (they must have played Madden). Does anyone know what Ohio State and Urban Meyer tend to do?
A coin flip is 50-50. But Oregon receiving the opening kickoff is more like 75-25

TotaL 50-50. You can tend or trend or read a book on there career stats and they may change there mind 5 minutes before kick off cause the wind is 3 degrees stronger one way or another or windy later. 50-50 bro.
I love props way to much and more then I should, but something about the quick finish like reception makes it a real gamble feel. Real talk, yesterday I had flacon over 3.5 rushing yards, it was over 3 minutes in, until he scrambled for a 8 yard loss, then back ahead, ended up with 8 attempts 8 yards.
This one tho? Might as well play the final score odd or even IMO. Good luck

I think your wrong if you think this is a 75-25 bet. Ohio St would be stupid to put Oregon O on the field first. With these two offenses winner of the toss puts the O on the field first to get the lead.

If you think Oregon receives the kickoff then you are better off taking Ohio State to receive 2nd half. Oregon -130 to receive first half and Ohio State is -125 to receive second half. I have seen Oregon defer in big games...

Ohio St is +130 to get the ball first, which is an implied probability of 100/230 = 43.5%. They've got a 50% chance to win the toss, so the betting market is pricing in a 6.5% chance that Urban will defer and test his D right away against the high octane Ducks offense. I think this highly unlikely and love getting +130 on this wager.
