Jeff Sagarin - the Godfather of sports power rankings...He has been publishing his rankings in USA Today since the 1980s. He has a degree from MIT in Math. He now has his own web page...He is best friends with Dr. Wayne Winston, my MBA quant prof, who he attended MIT with...I met him in 1999 at a Super Bowl party. He is a strange fellow. When I was first introduced to him, his first question to me was "what was your birth date?" I told him, and 1 minute later, he said "you were born on a Wednesday" which though correct, was a wierd interaction...He is a savant eccentric. I have found his power ratings to be a good validator. I doubt he watches the games, he just crunches the numbers, so I would not rely 100% on his trends, but incorporate them into your capping analysis...
