that’s the offensive ranking of the first eight teams that Michigan played. Number 42 in total offense, UNLV, didn’t have their stud quarterback playing the first two games and the backup averaged a whopping 92 yards per game ( against Michigan and Bryant).

No doubt about it, Michigan has the better defense but a lot of these quarterbacks threw for 2000 yards or less for the year. Penix is close to 5,000. I think he’s the best in college football, and it’s not even close. 

If Maryland, Penn State, and Ohio State can average 21 points against Michigan, I have to think Washington can score over 30. I don’t think Washington will be able to slow down Michigan, so this game has OVER written all over it. 38-35 somebody. I would take the points because this could be a classic, but the total is the play.

I am only posting this because I keep reading about how no one has scored over 24 points against Michigan. They have played some real crapola. Good luck

You conveniently forgot to mention they completely shut-down Iowa :)

UM had great defence by ranking in 2021 and 2022... Blown out by UGA (totally understandable, and I'm serious). Small loss to TCU, who had huge yards. Then TCU lost by 58 points the next week... So great defensive rankings and raw stats  based on playing the lowest scoring conference in modern NCAA history doesn't mean that much

On the positive side some real defensive progress vs Ohio State and that all has had to do with shutting down big, stud receivers.. Bodes well for playing UW but I think the OSU process has other big elements and they are are related

I have mentioned those shaky UW pac12 wins many times in this forum including in the last hour.   Penix had shoulder injury. Half the team apparently had the flu but ultimately that is not 100% confirmed and does constitute "excuses"

The subject of the thread was how great is UM's defence really. Definitely you could ask the same of U W offense

The other 2 key units are not great... Arguably not even outstanding
