That's a tall order for a short order cook. I would lean nd simply for the fact that Rutgers is one of the worst teams against passing and Rees has a 138 passer rating. To me this is a matchup that could make the Irish look like a great team. Rutgers hasn't beat anyone . They beat usf .. Big deal .. They got crushed against both cincy and ucf. Notre dame had a pretty tough schedule this year and in recent games has beat some tough teams and almost came back and won against Stanford but Rees threw a couple picks. Notre dame did well this year against good teams at home except Oklahoma and there will be a lot of support for Irish at Yankee stadium. Even though there will be a good mix of fans you can't change the fact that Rutgers is horrible. There's always a chance that Rutgers could possibly have enough hype to start the game well but as soon as they lose that 0-0 tie I could see the Irish giving them a good old fashioned a$$ whooping. This would be a fun game to watch if you're in the area... At least for an Irish fan. I'm surprised the line isn't 20

For Rutgers to cover 14 against the Irish, the game would definitely be a set up. When I looked @ the game in general thinking, how in the world & who put this horrible team into a bowl? Actually they should have let Rutgers play one of the Mac teams. Nothing would surprise me,especially when ND plays. Probably a no play for me.

This thread is a Joke! Rutgers is +14! ND is -14! Look at the difference is schedules of these teams. Rutgers is awful and played no one! ND is not great but played a lot of good teams. ND rolls by 20 today!

Only way Rutgers covers is if ND team is drunk, high, all starters suspended, or every ref is on the take. Two teams are not even close. If one of the above happens then they cover.

Rutgers gave up 28 to an awful UConn team. (I should know, they had one win going into that game).
Rutgers had to beat South Florida at home on the last day of the season to get into this bowl (and were only 4 point favorites against another terrible team). Notre Dame might be a 24 point favorite against SF at home and Rutgers was favored by a sliver.
Here is the kicker. Rutgers fired their defensive coordinator after the last game of the season and two assistants. What kind of gameplan do you have defensively now? Do you reinvent yourself against a team like ND and their offense, in a bowl game no less? It's almost an excuse to point to if you lose the game, and more so if you lose bad. Lose by 28? "Look, we fired our DC to look to the future! Don't blame us!"
The best bet here is to tease ND down 6 from the 14 and take any NFL game of your liking tomorrow with an extra 6 points. That is almost a near certain win.
I never recommend laying spreads over 10 in any game but if it is a must play straight up, I have to go with the Irish.

I watch Rutgers all the time.
Rutgers gave up 52 to Cincinnati. Fifty two!
