Florida will fix the stupid errors. I’d be much more concerned if I were a Miami backer. That O line isn’t good. Freshman qb will be in for a rough ride when facing teams with a good front 7.

RE: Oline - Florida's OL will be very good, maybe not 'elite' but the talent is good. Run blocking can improve but they protected the pass well for a first game together under the lights. Florida pass rush *is* fantastic. Miami's tackles will do much better w/ reps and against 80% of the ACC DL's they play, no question about that. Miami's QB did well against a great Florida defense that was fast, physical and athletic. He locks on to receivers to much when he should either run (he's as fast as an RB) or throw it away. This lock-on problem compromises his ability to "feel" the rush until too late. This can be corrected and was a function of the speed/athleticism of UF, but he must work on this. For UF, Franks' has the physical tools. He needs to be less emotional, more even-keeled, and let his play evolve organically and patiently. He has the skills to be an NFL QB if he will just get out of his own way. Both of these teams have top-10 talent.

Miami will be a top play -8 against North Carolina in week 2. More to come later.

I can't believe what I am reading. Neither of these teams will beat anyone of quality, and not just based on 1st game issues like snap infractions, illegal substitution, etc. Expected issues with Miami with new staff, FR QB, and two FR tackles on the line. Fortunately, they don't play a real tough schedule and will be ok as they build for the next year. But Florida, oh my. I knew they were overrated and didn't belong in the Top 10, but I think they are this year's free fall team. Every year this century but one, at least one Top 10 team ends the year unrated. I felt the most likely candidate was Florida but everyone was over reacting to a bowl win over a disinterested Michigan team missing half their starters on defense. Last night the winner for this year was unveiled for all to see.
How could anyone say they should be thrilled at the play of the OL? They could not block anyone, the rushing game was missing in action, totally. Yes, Miami has a good front 7, but guess who has a better defensive front that Florida plays: Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina. And they have better defensive backs too. The SEC is a trench league, you cannot win games if you cannot run the football. Florida's offense looked putrid, scoring came on a pass behind the line where there were 5 missed tackles by Miami allowing a 66 yard TD. The other TD came on a muffed punt by Miami. So with those two gifts, 10 sacks and 4 turnovers, and a gazillion yards in penalties, Florida put up 20 points. The defensive end #92 is a playa but the secondary that was so highly thought of looked average, and the tckling was as bad as Miami's. Razor thin on both sides of the ball. And Franks is goofy, kind of like Mullen.
I had them at 8-4 this year with certain losses to Auburn, LSU, and UGA, plus a loss to one of TN, SC, or Mizzou. I am now at 7-5 most likely with 2 or 3 from the TN, SC, Mizzou, Kentucky, or Vandy list. To go 8-4 they would need everything to fall right for them, and no injuries because they are thin at several positions. We will see. They looked really bad, against a really bad team, it won't get better . 7-5 or 6-6 is where I see them now. Just an opinion.

The off-season for Florida was a complete circus. I was shocked to see them in the top 10. Yes, Franks has tools but he doesn't capitalize. And IMO Mullen does not have the discipline to take a team like this and turn it into 10+ wins.
The game itself was so sloppy I'm scared to wager any money on either team for the next couple of weeks just because we have no idea what they're going to do.

This is the essentially the same Florida team (except 4 new starting olineman) that went 10-3 last year and finished 8th in the country. I;m not sure you guys realize what a team ranked 10th in the country looks like. Texas finished the season 9th, despite a 10-4 record after opening the season by losing to MARYLAND...
Nobody is saying there's not room for improvement, but they played an agressive DC and front 7 that lead the country in sacks and TFL;s last season. They picked up every blitz, and only gave up 1 sack (which came on a hail mary attempt. They also only had one false start, and one holding penalty... The UF center and guard were both graded as top 5 offensive performers of the game by PFF.... That's a great start for a unit w/ 4 players that have never played together, in a week 0 game...
Their run blocking wasnt great, but it wasnt all on the oline. Some of the blame needs to go to play calling, part needs to go to the RB's who had several runs where they shouldve gained more yards than they had. Miami also deserves some credit. Their LB corps might be the best in the country, and certainly better than UGA, and South Carolina.
Miami also replaced a few starters along their oline, look at how much worse they played... Coming into the season Florida biggest worry was if their oline would be good enough that they could run their offense. This was their FIRST game playing together, and only 3 weeks since camp started. I expect they will use the next four games against UTM, Kentucky, Tenn, and Towson to continue to improve. After that they have a brutal 4 week stretch vs Auburn @LSU @SC and neutral vs Georgia...

1st- I understand this wasnt a great performance, but how can you say they cant beat anyone of quality when they're essentially the same team that beat LSU, Miss St, SC, FSU, and Michigan a season ago, and just won their opener against a solid Miami team on a neutral site...
2nd- Florida scored 24 points, but they turned the ball over 4 times, once inside the 10, and again inside 35. They also werent on the field very long. Miami had a 7 min drive to end the 1 half, and then an 8 min drive to end the game. When UF did get back on the field, they immediately turned the ball over three different times (fumble on 2nd play, int on 2nd play, and int on 1st play). Their offense isint good enough to beat teams like LSU/Georgia if they dont get more opportunities than they did sat.
3rd- Bubble screens and jet sweeps are a staple of the UF offense. They use it as an extension of their running game, and Oline deserves some credit for leading the way on the 66 yard TD. You cant just discount that play, it's a major part of their offense and will be a challenge for every team they play. They have an elite playmaker who will make special plays all season. That would be like looking at the KC Chiefs and saying well if you take away Tyreek Hills big plays the offense wasnt really that good.

I dont think Florida is a great team by any means,, but this idea that they're terrible bc of how they looked in their week 1 win vs a solid miami team is ludicrous... They have some serious flaws, but thats no different than the rest of the top 25 (excluding Bama, Clemson, maybe Georgia)

Good response, we both view them differently, and that is cool. I didn't say they were terrible, just that everyone needs to be aware they are simply riding an over hyped rating, we will see. They upset LSU at home, MSU and FSU were bad teams last season, and SC gave away the game. They had to stage a huge comeback against Vandy; all that gave them a rating that was flawed at season's end. The OL, lack of depth, and inconsistent QB play will burn them in 2019. Yes that play is a staple of their offense, but it required several missed tackles to ever happen. Won't happen against better teams. The tkeaway is they could not drive the field all night against a very average Miami team.
Just pointing out that what we saw on Saturday was more than just a bad opening game, this might be just what they are. We are all here to exchange info for betting purposes, Florida may be an opportunity going forward. I suspect the Auburn game might be one of those opportunities to get a big play against the home team. I hope they stay over rated until then. Peace.
