Northern Illinois -5 vs Kent State

Miami (OH) fans say " kent read, kent write, kent state". Lol. I've watched a lot of Mac games this year (not sure why) and this game will come down to how well niu can stop the run. Kent's offense is seemingly 80-85% run. I like niu in the dome with the high octane offense in this game. But it should be close. 35-28 Niu

Huge QB advantage with NIU. Been riding Kent State through the reg season but I would lean NIU for now.

Not sure on this one yet. I have been riding both teams the last 5 or 6 weeks and both have made me some good money. Initial lean is NIU.

This isn't true actually.  If Kansas State beats Texas, NIU beats Kent State, and Stanford beats UCLA, NIU does have a chance to finish 16.  They are currently 21 and would leap frog an idle Michigan and Boise State with a win(due to a Boise State defeat of Nevada being less important than NIU Beating #17 Kent State).

If all this happens they could land at 16 and be in the Orange Bowl.

If the game "won't be very close" as you say - why buy the hook? Sounds like an irrational gambler to me. FYI - irrational gamblers lose... ALOT

  hold up homeboy, this is the Mac Championship played in Detroit at Ford field. The Mac Championship has been there since 2004 and this will be the 4th time NI will be playing there for the title there. Kent has never played there. if anyone has some kind of advantage its NI.

I think it will come down to QB play and turnovers because both teams should be able to score. Can Kent State repeat what they did in first quarter last week vs Ohio? Or will their QB Keith make the mistakes (7 ints on year).

kent has won me alot of  this year.  Their record ATS is very good

I heard today if Kent St wins and gets into the BCS that the MAC conf. teams would all share 24 million dollars. Thats a lot of money for these small budget schools. Could you see N. Ill losing on purpose for the good of them and the conf? I would be very leary betting on them.

if they were really smart niu and kent state would cut a deal where niu throws the game and kent state shares some of that bcs bowl money but i know that kind of stuff can't happen

Don't post much but I had to chime in.  Couldn't resist.  Here's the deal...been following the team since 1989.  Graduated in 1993.  Pro was absolute joke till Joe Novak took over in 1996.  Actually, they  won the California Bowl in 1983, but thats another story.  His first year he went 0-11 but after that, program took off.  I can still remember like it was yesterday that Stacey Robinson trounced all over #24 Fresno State 73-19 in 1990.  Highlight of my college career, keep in mind there were maybe 4,000 fans in the stands AND it was homecoming.  This is to give you a sense of the size of NIU Football back then.  NOW, a complete 180.  Since Novak took over NIU has been a force in the MAC conference.  Sent lots of players to the NFL, team is no joke (for a small conference).  Flash forward to this game coming up Friday night, I see a complete mis-match.  NIU has been rocking ever since they beat Alabama IN Alabama back in 2003 with Michael Turner.  Been in 6 bowl games since 2004.  Have the nations longest home winning streak in tact 19-0 (?).  15-0 the last 15 games against MAC opponents.  QB Jordan Lynch came from one of the premier HS programs in the Chicagoland area Mt. Carmel; and highly touted.  After two years as a head coach, Dave Doeren is already being discussed as one of the hotter young coaches on the rise. This years team has studs on either side of the ball.  As the guy said earlier, they should of been undeated this year if they play "unconventional".  I'm guessing if they were 12-0 right now, they would be top 10 team in nation. They led the entire Iowa game until the last score with 30 seconds to play.  8-2 ATS this year.  They blew out pretty much every team they played this year.  The line opened -5, its now -6.5.  And to top it off, I just read Jordan Lynch won MVP of the MAC this year.  Damn, I could go on and on.  Do your own research, I'm just here to help.

it won't be a blowout... but i think NIU will lead throughout, and win by 10 or 11 pts... hook could come in handy if things swing one way or another... however, i can see how your point of view would help to rationalize your play on Kent...

NIU average score 40.5 -17.5         23 point difference

Kent St average score 34.4 - 23,5   8.9 point difference

people here say Kent St has played the harder schedule and they have, but barely. Kent St beat a highly ranked and unbeaten Rutgers team but they were seriously overrated at the time for playing in the Big Least. Once they start playing in the Big Ten which isn't that good a conference anymore they will be below average. NIU and Kent State both played a lot of doormat MAC teams, MAC record for NIU opponents 23-41, MAC record for Kent St opponents 24-39. The above mentioned games average tells me a lot, NIU is crushing its opponents while Kent St is just beating them. Don't forget this is indoors which is a big advantage for the offense and the passing game. Lynch will tear up a Kent State team, I see NIU scoring about 35 points and Kent ST wont be able to keep up.NIU is 9-2-1 ATS while Kent St is 9-2. Both teams have been very good for us gamblers. NIU -6 and watch the game because this Lynch kid at NIU is one exciting college player.

Kent St.'s weakness is definitely pass "D ".And on an indoor
field NIU's wide receivers will get a lot faster.

Kent State lost to Kentucky ? Yes they did. However I never take the 1st few games ( WK 2) into consideration when capping this game.. Its irrelevant at this point. Should be looking @ Kent States last 4 games on the road vs N.ill last 4 games on the raod. I wasnt impressed with N,ill vs Toledo. Ive seen this to many times with Lynch and N.ill. Phoney boloneys. They play these crap teams then when they meet up with somthing formidable ie Toledo...they  dont cover,,,and they wont cover this one...or win it for that matter
