Normally, MAC teams cannot come within three touchdowns of well known BCS schools, but this NIU team is a different breed. NIU can put up points on any team at any time because they have playmakers all over the field. This is the first MAC team I've seen in a long time that I think could compete with pretty much any team in the county. I'm not saying NIU would beat an Alabama or LSU, but I am saying they would score some points along the way. I don't see any reason NIU does not win by double digits Friday Night against Kent State..

Jake I hope you're right. I'm a NIU season ticket holder. I've seen them play many times and I also feel like this team is a different breed - they have been dominant. I hope they get a chance to show it against some higher competition. I just keep thinking what could have been had they not blown the Iowa game to start the season. First things first they gotta take care of business vs Kent State, who are on quite a roll but a team that personally I think is getting way too much credit right now for whatever reason.
NIU 38, Kent State 27

NIU professor here. NIU is going to BLOW out Kent......Lynch is the best player in the country.......BCS bowl is going to be very close... Lets hope all the voters who voted for Kent swing their votes to NIU come poll time and we are headed to orange bowl.

Mysticrich, I understand your points and I wish you the best of luck, but I think Northern Illinois is just starting to hit on all cylinders..I'm seeing an easy victory as I said, but we shall see. .

niu???...sure!---great season, great talent, but dn't mention them in the same breath with some teams that faced a "meat grinder" schedule all year from far superior conferences!....

Against my better judgement I bet on the Noles. I already know it's a loser. They should be able to pound the ball down NIU's throat and the defensive front should be in the backfield most of the game. Somehow though this won't happen, Manuel willl have 5 to's and NIU loses to FSU by less than a TD.
