Even as horrible as the Texas offense was last year they didn't lose any of their home games by more than 3 points. Buechele is a huge upgrade at QB; I'll be all over UT + the points, especially after the public drives the line up.

I don't care about last year, I care about this year where they having a QB crisis (again) and will be playing a top 10 team who is confident and expects to compete for a national playoff birth. Texas is hoping to get to a bowl game. These two programs recruiting, records, and coaches have been going in different directions for several years now.

There's alot to like with the Irish, the depth looked promising LY, both QB's good solid in the spring game, not lights out but very promising. My trouble here is Texas recruits very well and if the team has made any connection with Strong they know they are fighting for him this year or probably goodbye and 9 months is a long time to be prepping for a game. And don't forget they snuck up and surprised a few teams LY even in the dissaray they were in.
I'm definitely waiting to see what Steel says and see if there's some possible matchup issues. Either way I would not load up on this one first week no matter what the touters say. Noted on the home margin LY tsw, great point!
Good Luck!

+4 to +4.5 looks about right I think. Too many unknowns for me. Will watch the fall camp QB race and see how it goes. Would want Texas +7 or +7.5 to consider them a play.
I saw that ND was a strong 2nd half team in 2015. Not sure if that's coaching or what as I did not watch enough ND games to have a feel for why that is. I think this could be a real good game. If that 2nd half success continues, ND pulls await late?? hmmm, wouldn't surprise me that much to see Texas pull the upset either. Where's the Texas Moneyline thread?

I really think Texas covers +4.5 points. Phil Steele has them as his most improved team this year but has them finishing 4th this year in the big 12. Charlie Strongs job is on the hot seat this year I really think if he loses to Notre Dame Charlies bags will be packed

I don't know which direction to go on this one. You've got a ND squad that always comes out strong. This team, although young and immature, will certainly have LY victory errased from their outstanding coaching staff....Top10 team in some peoples charts.
Texas playing in front of its home crowd knowing they got a beat down LY will play with redemption on their minds. Will their fresh QB shine in front of a filled stadium? Will the defense improve?
Too many question marks...and at +/- 4.5-3.5 it's anyone guess.
Overall, I've always had respect for the Irish and their strong/ disciplned program and have never really liked Strong as a coach. The program has declined and I see it continue to slide. I know Steele has this program as most improved, I just don't see it in them this year. I've seen videos of the QB scramble and run for yardage.. Impressive. But he's only a freshman and at the college level, especially a Notee Dame defense, I don't see the kid last if he continues to run like he did in HS. Nevertheless, I have ND winning this. 27-23.

Texas will improve through the season, Texas will need very good breaks to pull this out. ND will not give the flat effort they gave in some games last year as one of you noted. Life long horns fan, ND is one of of my top week 1 bets. (Indiana is the top )

Notre Dame is a top 10 team "in title only" but I'm very confident that they will end the season with three or four losses and finish ranked somewhere around 22
