Happens a few times each year, and I almost always play it regardless of the teams:
Ranked road team vs. Unranked home fav.....usually a small number and the basic logic is that the unranked home team is highly motivated vs the "ranked team". There are other factors, but that's the biggest one. This week: #18 Rutgers at Pitt-1.5---Play the Panthers! Rutgers has been really good, so it's hard to trust the angle, but like I said, I will play it regardless of the teams....

Didn't a horrible Pitt team ruin West Virginia's shot at the BCS title game a few years back in the last game of the season?
Love the Pitt play. BOL.

I too always play this angle. thats why i took unranked Cincinnatti last week as a 7 point favorite over ranked Rutgers. Rutgers won outright, but i'll give it another shot to fade them.

johnny i have to correct you Pitt can't qualify for a bowl due to the fact that Pitt played 2 fcs teams. When you play 2 fcs teams you have to win 7 games to make a bowl. Pitt at best can win 6 games
BOL to you

Thanks for the info Johnnynumbers. This will help greatly in gaining new gray hairs before kickoff. I teased Rutgers +7 and Miami -1. GL to everyone as the home dog vs. ranked opp is seemingly a good strategy.
