Oregon total and weather

Question

It&#x27;s raining hard in Eugene and there is no sign of it easing up. However, I still like the over 1st half here despite the weather.Rain or no rain, I just don&#x27;t see how Cal will stop Oregon from putting up 42 plus in the 1st half. The field won&#x27;t be muddy, it&#x27;s turf so I don&#x27;t really see it causing too many problems. This isn&#x27;t soldier field. Now Cal on the other hand likes to throw the ball and take their shots down the field. I see them scoring around 10 to 17 in the 1st half themselves.Oregon defense is okay but teams have moved the ball on them. Tennessee moved it okay and I think Cal has a better offense. I keep watching game film on Oregon this year and they are amazingly efficient on offense. More so than last year I think. So I cannot see this big play offense being tested even a little by quite possibly one of the worst defenses in the country. Cal gives up big play after big play. And even if they don&#x27;t score much they won&#x27;t burn much time off the clock anyway. I would love for someone to tell my why I shouldn&#x27;t bet the over 1st half here. Because I am seriously considering making this a HUGE HUGE play. Without a doubt this would be my biggest play of the year. PREDICTION:Oregon 45Cal 17 Halftime score

Not opposed to your play or reasoning but here are my concerns. Rain will slow down Cal's passing offense and you may need 5 Oregon first half TD's to get this over. The L8 times they have played, the first half total points scored were: 34, 29, 15, 28, 22, 13, 38 and 20. The L6 times they have played in Oregon, it is 6-0 UNDER and the L6 times they have played overall, it is 5-1 UNDER.

Having stated all that, I am not playing the total.

Just food for thought.

Thanks for the response.The only thing I would say about the last 8 times they&#x27;ve played is that it was under Jeff Tedford, not Sonny Dykes. And that is a HUGE difference. Tedford never ran a hurry up offense nor was it a real big play offense. Dykes on the other hand likes to play at the same pace as Oregon. So I see around 15 possessions in the first half, which is a lot. And if their are that many that possessions than I can see Oregon scoring at least 42 without breaking a sweat.

Rain will also cause db&#x27;s to not have as tight of coverage....one false move and........... Ducks love the rain they get all wet and slippery

And to be honest I wouldn&#x27;t take it because this game could get ugly. And you know what Oregon does in the 4th quarter with a giant lead. They no longer run hurry up and they stop throwing. So if they&#x27;re up 56 to 10 going into the 4th, I might lose.

Completely agree. Besides, Oregon lines up so damn quickly that defenses are rarely in position to defend. And Oregon always has a guy open somewhere on the field and when he gets the ball, goodbye in that weather. My only real concerns are the grip of the ball for the QB&#x27;s and the wind. Otherwise I think it should fly over the total 1st half.

Why not just take the Ducks -23 first half spread. The rain and wind will have more of an impact on Cal since there offense is mostly in the air compared to Oregon who runs the ball.

Mariota tends to play poorly under rainy and cold weather. Last year they lost straight to Stanford as a 20 point favorite, and that weather was similar to the current one.
