The majority of MSU backers are backing because of the spot/situation. SEC home dog on Thursday night. MSU 1st home game in front of a packed out rabid (no pun) crowd.
More tangible reasons would be that this Ms State team is pretty good. A solid running game powered by a big powerful QB in Relf and a mean downhill runner in Ballard. If MSU can establish any sort of run game it will open up the pass and allow MSU to use their outside playmaker in Bumphis. Mullen will get creative and pull out all the tricks to win this game. Simply, this is the biggest game in Starkville in quite some time. The MSU defense which struggled last week will look to shut down the run and force Jarrett Lee into beating them with his arm. Lee is no stranger to throwing picks and MSU backers are hoping the blitz package along with the rowdy crowd will get to him and he will go back to his old ways of throwing the ball to the wrong team.
However, logic tells us this. LSU has one of the top defenses in the country, led by a defensive line that limited one of the most explosive running attacks in Oregon to 97 yards. In order for MSU to be successful and ultimately win this game, they will have to establish a running game against one of if not the best run stopping defenses there is. The LSU offensive game plan will be to control the ball and keep their defense off the field and fresh. They will pound on this good but undermanned MSU defensive front and look to soften them up throughout the game. If LSU can keep themself out of 3rd and longs they will not need Lee to do anything special to win. Simply put, MSU's strength plays right into the strength of this LSU team. LSU has more depth and more talent. These two will rear their head in the 4th quarter and LSU will pull away. I'm on the tigers.

Ms State got exposed last week. I was at the orego/lsu game and bet on oregon (im not an lsu fan either, so my pick/analysis isnt homerish) LSU impressed the shit out of me. Yes turnovers played a huge role in the game, however, good defenses are opportunistic and force teams into putting the ball on the ground. What also wasnt as clear on TV was how the LSU dline/oline DOMINATED the oregon lines. MSU lost their starting LT last week and another went down with an injury and he is questionable this week. Not good news for an already undermanned front against a healthy, dominate front of LSU. And yes, MSU losing Diaz to Texas was a huge blow. He was largely responsible for the success of MSU under Mullen

Just ask Michigan for one reason,,,,, or ask florida for one reason., Georgia, ask Arky about Miss St. ask last year's national champs Auburn , and ask Cam Newton.
and then ask Vick Ballard,,, but dont forget to ask Dan Mullen.,
Anybody who follows SEC football knows how Les Miles (LSU) plays
very close games and anybody who follows SEC football knows that Miss St is a legit team.
good luck on your -3 , you very well might win but be prepared for more complexity to your plotline tonight.
