LY started 2-3 giving up 34pts against Wake, 44 against Cincy and 45 against GTech. gives up 24 against CentralMich, shut out by FSU, loses 14-10 to powerhouse BostCollege, wins against looking ahead to ACC title game Clemson and then beats juggernauts Maryland and Louisville
This year they lose their top play maker Graham (PR/topWR) and lose their #1,#4,#7,#9 tacklers from an obviously dominant defense ^^^^

I'm with ya cesimms..I saw it at -3 awhile ago and I jumped at that....Heck it's gambling, anything can happen, but I'm definitely not seeing all the love for NCSt either.... GO VOLS!!

NCSU has a QB with NFL size (6'6 230lbs) and talent and their best OL since O'Brien has been there (6yrs). They return their leading rusher from 2010 and 2011 and have some size on the DL....their DT's are 6'4 330 and 6'2 315. Their LB's are inexperienced but as a GT fan that watched Jon Tenuta coach for 6 years, I wouldn't worry about their LB's. Their secondary is the strength of the team. They ended last season on a 3 game winning streak and beat ACC Champ Clemson by 24 pts. O'Brien isn't a great coach but I do think he's solid.
UT has an NFL talent at QB too and some really talented WR's, even without Rogers. Their OL has a lot of experience but that doesn't mean they're good. They only averaged 90 yds rushing/game last year and a pitiful 2.8 ypc. I'll cut them a little slack as they did have to play against Bama, LSU, SC, UGA, etc., but they also only managed 61yds rushing vs KY. Their defense was decent last year and should be improved but they are switching to a 3-4 so you can expect some mistakes/missed assignments. They finished the season getting smoked by Arky 49-7, squeaking out an O.T. win vs Vandy, and losing to KY. They were 5-7 and didn't go to a bowl. In my opinion Dooley is a mediocre coach that's in over his head and will get the boot after this season.

You're putting way too much emphasis on NCSU's first game of LAST season....and it was a game they won by 22 pts. Who cares that they were outgained in yardage. You're an SEC fan, you should know how those 1st game cupcakes go....get a big lead, pull the starters at halftime, and the other team keeps busting their ass because it's their Super Bowl. UT gave up 346 yds vs Montana in their 1st game last year but I don't think anybody is going to obssess over it.

I have been on Tennessee since Bookmaker first put the line out at -3. I think NC State will be improved over last year, but the Vols will be as well. The running game should take a huge step up, and Bray in my opinion is an elite level quarterback. As for NC State, the back 4 should be good, but the front seven will struggle to stop the run and pressure the quarterback. If they can't do that consistently, then Bray will pick them apart, Rodgers or not. Everyone talked about how well they played down the stretch to close the season last year, but outside of beating Clemson I am not impressed.
Is this a huge statement game for NC State? Yea, it would be huge for them to beat an SEC team right out of the gate. However, this is just as big or bigger for Tennessee. Dooley's ass is on the hot seat, so he knows damn well he better have his boys prepared to play come Friday night in Atlanta. Homefield edge also goes to the Vols in this game, as they should put more butts in the seats than the Wolfpack fanbase.
