Time for an 8 team playoff

Should've been ALA, PIT, MICH, UTAH, and BAY, along with 3 at-large - UGA? OSU? ND? CIN?

this idea will kill all the late November top 10 matchups that for 100 years have essentially been a championship eliminator. I don't like it, but money talks and it's inevitable.

4 is enough… as stated many times…. The entire month of November is the start of the playoffs

I'll play along...   but it's not that easy.  Taking the power conference champs plus the G5 top team leaves either Georgia, Ohio St or ND out.  So right away you're eliminating either the #3,5 or 6 team for a Pitt or Utah.  For the sake of this convo, I'll leave Utah out using this years rankings.

#1 Bama

#2 Michigan

#3 Georgia

#4 Cincy

#5 ND

#6 OSU

#7 Baylor

#8 Pitt

Bama whips Pitt, Michigan beats Baylor, Georgia beats OSU and a rematch of Cincy/ND.  We end up with the same 4 teams we have now 95% of the time

Would not matter, Bama is a dynasty under Saban and no matter who they play they will be contenders for the NC every year... Buckle up until he retires, then all this whining about the playoffs will end. 

I propose 6 teams....1 & 2 get a bye....3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 the week after the season ends.....then the playoffs like usual after new years.....

 Agree.  8 or 12 would be nice.  I get tired of watching meaningless bowl games where any NFL prospect is going to sit out and meaningless conference Championship games for most teams (Iowa, Baylor, OK State, Utah, Oregon, Pitt, Wake, UGA, Houston, probably missed some) Yes, UGA Bama was meaningless for UGA in terms of who gets in and UGA played like it.    NCAAF is the only sport that I get increasingly less excited as the season goes on which is unfortunate because it is my favorite sport.  Another option would be to simply hand the trophy to Saban at the beginning of the year and play for fun.

It's not 95% of the time unless you are giving each favorite 98.5% odds. But even then 98.5^4 games is 94%. So if each team is getting 98.5% odds, and that is typically around +2500. Your math is way off. The odds of all the top 4 teams beating the next 4 teams is less than 50%. The teams aren't far enough part and there is too much variance in the game.  

I'm not doing math.  I'm saying the 4 best teams are here already and there is little need to extend the season more.  There are other years where you could make a case for 6, but this isn't one of them

Cincy has the best non conf win of any team in country on road by double digits in south bend, but u gonna leave them out. Pitt lost to western mich abd Miami that alone disqualifies them in my book same with Baylor losing to tcu
