Shakey, How ya doing bud. Thanks for stopping by. Total now is 48 1/2. That's not enough for me . Would like to see a few more. The wild card in Dublin is weather , as it could very easily rain there on game day.

Wiseguy I think only way psu can win is to keep it lower scoring
Shakey, I think it will be a low scoring game due to a long road trip, UCF starting a new QB , and PSU learning to play in a new system. I don't know how the defenses will play however. That would be my only concern.

Yea my local will jack up total because of area I live in
If I'm going to play the total, it would be the under, but I'm more comfortable betting against an untested UCF quarterback, on the road in his first game.

Neutral site game Wiseguy.
I was HUGE on UCF last year (and every idiot local favorite better in the book really hated me for rooting so loudly for UCF) but love Ped State this year. Sort of rethinking the bet its not as much of a favorite of mine as it was.

Wise I'm living Penn St here as well... have you heard about George O'leary stepping down early as after the Penn St game??? It's prob a rumor, regardless if true or not, another distraction like that doesn't bode well for the Knights. Thanks as always brother Wise!

GoGo, I have not heard that rumor, If it were true, I can't imagine the school not dealing with it earlier. I'm not able to find any stats on Di Novo. I don't think he's taken a snap at the collegiate level.

I believe I mentioned that in post #1 I understand that, my context was that he would not have the advantage of familiarity of UCF's home stadium and fans to provide support. I believe UCF will be a slightly different team this year without Bortles and Storm Johnson.

For what it's worth , UCF returns 9 starters on D, but replace their D. Coord.I don't think I would bet either side in this one.

Tyson Summers is new UCF Def.Coord./ LB coach L 2 yrs.under Summers ( LB coach ) UCF allowed 4 YPC prior to that at UAB ( LB coach ) they allowed 4.8 YPC on average.Be careful.

If UCF comes up with a freshman QB better than Penn St's Hackenburg than I will probably lose my bet. I'm betting they don't. I think their is opportunity for winning sports handicapping the first few weeks of the season betting against teams that have an unknown at quarterback. Football has changed radically in the last few years with an increased emphasis on the passing game. People and handicappers will catch up quickly but they haven't yet. I like your bet wiseguy, I'm on Penn St as well because they have a very good QB and the better overall team FSU has an unknown at that very key position.

dummy offense POY LY.....no game snaps....received offers from Marshall and USF looks like
UCF seems to be the 'obvious' choice....established coach / systems....6/9 st....better D....probably slight crowd edge (O'Leary)...usually are tough in these games ....playing to the level of their opponent is an O'Leary staple
PSU 5/7st.....1/5 OL.....learning new stuff....overachieved maybe? / now scholarship restrictions taking it's toll?...........
This one screams no play to me...................................but
digging a bit further......
seems like (to many) UCF might have an athletic edge *but check out the starting offense for each.....using Steele'sPS numbers (a rating coming out of high school) >> not a perfect predictor sure....but gives you a decent feel for the overall talent a team has
*I figured it to be a lot closer than that........ note: I have seen several posts (in a subtle / weird attempt to support a play on UCF.....) that this is no big deal for Dinovo... Dublin is about 4000 miles from Orlando......about 8-9 hours away / 5 time zones....to suggest this one is easier than a 'true' road game of course makes no sense
As I pointed out (another thread)...UCF's D was 'tough' because they played teams with really weak O's.....any team that could move it.....did.....games seem to be decided not by their D (as in the past) but by QB Bortles (1st QB drafted) and RB Johnson (7th rd)......with the help of 3 all-conf OL......now all gone.....(top 3 WR are back)
HAS TO BE.....labeled a hunch *since we have no idea how PSU will play here .....new coach / systems....
But mine is that Franklin is a tremendous coach and we will see an improved PSU team here.....and they win an ugly/ low scoring game........ *watch out > PSU has a LONG way to go in ST play and use of field position (huge).....ranking 112 and 96 LY (UCF 23 / 37) ...
Toughest part about this game?.....being forced to start drinking at 7:30am (C time) ....................
