FanDuel sportsbook already paying out national championship bets on Alabama
FanDuel sportsbook is paying out bets from people who picked Alabama to win the college football national championship -- over a month before the game will be played.
The company announced Friday night it is treating the top-ranked Crimson
Tide as the winners already, and paid out single-game bets to
customers' online or mobile accounts. Those who made bets in person can
bring their winning slips to the location where they bet to be paid.
Alabama also is being marked as a winner on parlay bets that included the necessity of it winning the title.
FanDuel
says the move could cost it $400,000. Should Alabama not win the
national championship, FanDuel will pay out bets on whichever team wins
the title.
"It has been a dominant season for the Crimson Tide and our traders have
seen enough," the company said in a statement Friday night."

I believe Paddy Power or another Euro book was paying Clinton wagers before she lost to Trump in the 2016 Election.
That's hilarious.
But $400,000 isn't sh!t in the grand scheme of things for Fan Duel. As mentioned previously, it's pretty good marketing.
I live in Jersey so I use their Sportsbook over the others b/c their ACH Withdraw TAT is 2 business days. I understand Draft Kings now has it but they didn't earlier this year.

They are doing all this when this business (sports betting) is going to rise bigger than ever without any marketing schemes. But hey, like you said, it is true, $400,000 is nothing when considering the bottom line.
This live in-game wagering is going to explode in the future. NBA and MLB already on board to provide statistic feeds.

You're right about the Live In-Game man. They have ML and point spread updates on almost each play. Allows you hedge. I noticed DraftKings doesn't provide them with wagers bet pre-game but Fan Duel does. So much for calling your bookie up on a Saturday morning asking for a 10-timer on the early game hoping that he's home and picks up the LAN line.
Have you seen the Cash-Out option? Allows you cancel your wager in game with money won/loss depending on the score.
I used it literally within the minute of the Serena Williams 2nd set meltdown during the Championship match of the US Open. Saved me around $125

its not that unbelievable when you consider Bama are -250 which makes it more sense for the books to give people the chance to lose their money plus with the marketing aspect as mentioned already.

$400K is nothing to them...Bama @ 2-1 odds in the beginning of the season means that they did not get that much $$ on Bama...Like other mentioned...its a marketing ploy to get new customers and media attention...
