Is the fix in on this one? Why's UU +3.5 in this matchup? The better squad all around.. Maybe not on paper, but we've seen what' paper championships win.
Any thoughts?

Have no clue why USC is favored. Really don't. I had to double check to see if Wilson was hurt or something but doesn't look like he is. USC has underachieved for yrs now. This line is saying on a neutral field this would be a pk? That's crazy IMO. I would make Utah -4 vs USC on a neutral field. I like Utah plus the points and ml at this point. Haven't played it yet but I'm puzzled by this line too. Bol

To be fair, this game probably has more weight to the home team than normal. Altitude differential, etc.

USC has worse coaching, worse record, worse rushing game, worse defense, so therefore take USC and give Utah 3 points also. It's a no brainer.

The books are trying to get more of the public money on Utah to balance the huge amount of LA money on USC.  Utah is Mormon country with a tiny population compared to Southern California.  The arrogance of Trojan fans will not allow them to bet against USC no matter how badly they are playing.

I think Kessler at home is a better QB than Wilson playing at SC. Booker is the wildcard. If he goes off Utah has a clear advantage. Special teams advantage Utah that's for sure.

Kessler takes too much time to throw and refuses to run.  He doesn't like to throw downfield.  Utah's D is good enough and USC's O is not enough. 

I wish they would put Max Browne in at QB and let him get ready for next year.  This year is shot.

Oddsmakers aren't sold on the Utes.  Just because all of us squares here see that #3 ranking and think they are legit, doesnt mean the spread is gonna reflect that.  

What side do you think oddsmakers are more worried about, the sharp side or public side?  Therefore which side do you think they'd shade the line to?  Think about that whenever you see these "fishy" lines.

I understand all that, but the sharps have got to be all over the Utes on this one... USC stinks. Utah's already got 3-4 good wins on this years resume topped with a W in a trip to Eugene.. Beat Michigan at home early, beat Cal and AZ St.. i'm still at a loss here and probably just chalk it up to a no play as I'm scared. haha

Well my main point (and the articles point) is that this line can be explained.  Oddsmakers reasoning here makes sense.  So if USC covers I hope people dont get on here and start talking about "the fix was in!"

Thanks for this article. But people just aren't evaluating USC carefully. They're 3-3.  Of those 3 wins, only one is against a decent team: Arizona State. The other 2 wins were against Arkansas State and Idaho.  

USC has lost to Stanford, ND and Washington. And against Stanford and ND, the defense looked like utter crap.  USC has a lot of talent on offense, however.  

but at some point, I don't think oddsmakers are giving enough credit to coaching.   Seems like Utah coaches are better.

They also had temple favored by -4 vs USC. So that makes him 1-0 this week.
