It's go time boys!
Let me first say, I wish all of the true covers brothers on here nothing but the best. I hopethis is y'all's most profitable and ENJOYABLE year yet! This forum can become a bit of a joke sometimes when the trolls come out to play, but for me, it's worth putting up with them to conversate with some of you "real" covers brothers. I enjoy all the input and knowledge you guys possess & share.
Here we go:
ARIZONA -31.5 vs UTSA
- I have been a big Anu Soloman fan since I watched him play high school football here in Las Vegas back when he was "Jarett" Soloman. I thought he had a great freshman campaign last year, and he has improved by leaps and bounds according to Rich Rod. I think with this receiving core( Samaje Grant, Cayleb Jones, Trey Griffey) and a solid RB in Nick Wilson, This team can light up the scoreboard opening night against anybody, let alone UTSA. They don't need to feel things out and learn what they got in their players. They are ready to rock and roll.
Defense is sharp as well with their unique 3-3-5 alignment and Gap scheme integrity. Led by Sir Scooby Wright, no concerns here with the horrid offense that UTSA is rolling in.
Larry Coker has gone on record saying this is the apitomy of Rebuilding, returning 2/ offense & 4/ defense. They know they are going to get steam rolled. And it's ok... As long as they have fun

Arizona St + 3 vs Texas A&M
- Love the culture that Todd Graham has created around this program. Especially on defense, these guys come and punch you in the mouth, then take the ball away from you. Remember how furious this group was against Notre Dame? They return 9 from that D, and bring back 7 on offense including solid QB Bercovicci, WR DJ Foster and RB Demario Richardson.
I do like A&M this year, but not in this particular matchup. The Aggies just named Kyle Allen starting QB, but I foresee them being flustered and panicked vs this agressive, blitz happy defense.
I think both teams are equal on offense, so I'll take the team getting 3 points with the substantial better defense and coach.
Also, not a true home game for A&M at Kyle field, as this game will be played at NRG in Houston.
34-27 Devils
NC State -24 vs Troy
- I would have thought this number would have been closer to 30. This is a good football team with a dark horse heisman candidate running the offense in Jacoby Brissett. I watched them mature as a team last year. These guys can flat out play, and Dave Doern is a quality coach. Returning 7 off/ 8 def they're poised to break out this year. If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of returning pieces on offense for my week 1 bets. No time for figuring things out week 1 when your trying to cover a spread. I need proven offenses. I think NC State hangs 45 on em.
Troy returns 13 total, but they have a new coach in Neal Brown, this game will be his first collegiate game as a coach ( former WR @ Kentucky). Implementing new schemes on both sides of they ball, with a 3-9 record team, on the road, against a team ready to emerge and prove themselves in the ACC?? Not a recipe for success...
45-3 Pack
Kentucky - 14 vs Louisana Lafeyette
- Kentucky returns 7 on a offense that can flat out score under Mark Stoops innovative offense mindset. They hung 45 on South Carolina, 31 on Georgia, and 40 on Louisville. Patrick Towles can sling the pigskin, Stanley Williams averaged 6.6 per carry a last year. They will score. The problem is their defense, lucky for them ULL is coming to town on Sept 5th..
Terrance Broadway is gone + Alonzo Harris is gone = no offense for ULL. Only 44.5 % of offense returns, ranked 104th in country. Not fun for a Sun belt team breaking in a new QB and RB, on the road, vs a team with talent, hunger, and motivation to prove that they ain't just a Basketball school.
48-24 Cats
Well, there you have it fellas. After looking at all the week 1 match ups, this is what I have - only 4 plays. Hoping to be 4-0 after.
