Cannot get updates when following someone

Question

For the small handful of people I would actually like to get a notification about, because I enjoy reading their posts, it seems I cannot.

Any ideas Covers.....??? This has been going on for awhile. Even when I see them post something it says "Unfollow" under their name, meaning I was supposedly following them to begin with

At the end of the day this is not the end of the world, but what is the point of following if you get no updates?
