I'm looking for any thoughts, criticisms, etc. I'll share my thoughts on my team after posting it. This was a high-stakes (for me at least, but we're not talking anything ridiculous like 10K haha), 10-team standard scoring league with winner getting 90% and 2nd getting their money back. QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX (RB/WR/TE), D/ST, K, 6 BN
Only a 10 team league, so pretty much everyone is guaranteed to be pretty stacked, but whatever.
I picked 9th.
1) Eddie Lacy - GB (RB)
2) Montee Ball - DEN (RB)
3) Keenan Allen - SD (WR)
4) Michael Floyd - ARI (WR)
5) Roddy White - ATL (WR - FLEX)
6) Rashad Jennings - NYG (RB - BN)
7) Marques Colston - NO (WR - BN)
8) Kyle Rudolph - CAR (TE)
9) Jay Cutler - CHI (QB)
10) Justin Hunter - TEN (WR - BN)
11) Joique Bell - DET (RB - BN)
12) Carlos Hyde - SF (RB - BN)
13) Travis Kelce - KC (TE - BN)
14) TB Buccaneers - (D/ST)
15) Phil Dawson - SF (K)
Alright, so here's my thinking. I had honestly PLANNED on going WR/WR to start once I found out I was drafting 9th, assuming I could get RB value in rounds 3 and 4, but once Eddie Lacy fell to 9TH, I couldn't NOT take him. People that went before lacy included Demaryius Thomas, Calvin Johnson, Jimmy Graham, and Aaron Rodgers (first overall QB).
Coming around and getting Ball was great, as somehow Dez and Julio were both gone... and I saw more value here than to take a perms-double covered AJ Green (maybe a mistake).
I then took 3 WRs, and even though I don't have any standout top 5 WR, I have Keenan ranked 9th on my list, Floyd 10th at WR and Roddy as WR16 overall, so I would say that's pretty good value. I think I took Jennings AND Colston earlier than I could have gotten them and I probably should have grabbed another WR for my bench over Kelce as he probably would have been on the Wire anyways unless he exploded.
I don't have a clear #1 receiver, but I do have Allen as WR9, Floyd as WR10 and White as WR16. I expect White to get 1000 yards this year as well as Julio Jones. Floyd is the best option in Arizona and Palmer looked pretty good his first year there. I shocked and upset a lot of people when I took Floyd with Vincent Jackson still on the board.
Kyle Rudolph was a steal that late (I have him as the 5th or 6th best TE), and Cutler (if he wasn't injured) was a top 10 QB last year and I expect if he stays healthy (PLEASE GOD PLEASE!) him to be around QB6 or QB7 by the end of the year.
Justin Hunter I apparently took too early as a couple people in my draft even asked who he was (facetiously). Didn't seem like people were too interested, but I like having him as I bet he ends the season as the #1 WR in Tennessee ahead of Kendall Wright.
Joique was a steal late as the HC for Bush and he might even see more than 40% of the snaps this year with Bush aging.
Travis Kelce is just my flier pick of the year. I have huge hopes for this Gronkian tight end! He would have sat on the Waiver Wire, but I wanted him.
As for Defence and Kicker, best available to me. I stream defences based on match ups anyways and it was between Cleveland, NY Jets and TB for what was left for me. I might change to Cleveland still, who knows. Kicker, well, Fantasy Phil Dawson was a no brainer. New stadium, less wind, and finished last year from weeks 6 on going 29/30 as the #1 fantasy kicker.
Thoughts welcome! Cheers
