Ok, so i have a big $ draft coming up this friday.
League is a PPR league. 
5pts for passing TD and 6pts for Rushing/Rec TD.

I have the 8th overall pick. I am thinking about Chris Johnson, Tom Brady, or Calvin. If those three are gone, what do you suggest I do. Do I take Brees or possibly Forte? 

With my second pick I am thinking an elite T/E maybe in Jimmy Grahm ensuring me I have the best TE in fantasy especially in a PPR or do I take a WR such as Fitz. I could hope to get Stafford or Newton in the third round but not likely.

Tough situation. Chime in and let me know what you guys will do. Hopefully people dont just look at this thread but respond to it as well. Thanks Guys!

Of the options you listed, I'd go in this order: Megatron, Brady, Brees, Johnson, Forte.

If I went RB in 1st round whether it was CJ2k or Forte, do I get Graham or a WR or QB in round 2?

First two rounds for me are best available (so long as not QB, QB, obviously).

My opinion this year on WRs is that if you don't get Calvin Johnson (or in a PPR Welker, who is tremendous value in PPR) you should wait until 3rd round to pick up a WR.  So if you go RB in round 1 go either RB or QB, whatever is best available.  Likely Brees/Brady/Rodgers will be gone which likely makes your second round pick a RB.

Newton could last until the 3rd.  I think his average ADP in PPR leagues is mid-3rd.

If you don't get Calvin first I'd recommend Brees or Brady. Even though it's a PPR league, I don't recommend Forte (contrary to a lot of people favouring him). Forte is no MJD and even with the addition of Marshall, the Bears offense is still heavily reliant on him and opposing D knows this. Plus I can't see him exploding for TDs and as we all know the addition of Bush who is more than capable of goal line duties. You could also argue that a 3rd round S Jax is more valuable than a 1st round Forte...they are comparable so why waste the pick on Forte first?

Not saying don't take Forte, but certainly not over MJD (once he gets a contract) or CJ

my draft is friday. Its such a huge risk to take MJD. what if he doesnt get signed or traded? Thats a first pick gone just like that. I will most likely take CJ2K, Megatron, Brady, or Brees with the 8th pick. Its the coming back pick that will make me think a bunch.

You'll just have to see how the draft plays out. Personally, I don't think there will be a big difference in production between Brees Brady and Rodgers - I'd strongly draft one of the 3 QBs without hesitation with the 8th pick given that QB TD gets a small bump and that small bump is quite significant - and a RB certain of 250+ touches second round. At the very least, if you go for a RB first, make sure you get Stafford in the second.

Although RBs are the foundation, one reason I'd recommend QBs first is that you'll find enough RBs later on (even in time sharing committee) that could give you Tier II points...

I can't believe McFadden's name hasn't been mentioned......everyone and their mother doubting his health and that he'll play half the season. Of course anything can happen to anyone at any time, BUT he has something to prove this year!!! If the upper management of the Raiders were so concerned with McFadden's health....why they let go Bush??? That is a silent statement saying Run DMC is the MAN this year in the drivers seat!! We all know IF he does play an entire season the results could be very rewarding!! I'm willing to take that risk with him and you should too!! If I get pick #3 or later he's my selection! Of course Rice and Foster are ahead, but I'd even take him over McCoy! B

Raiders also just said publicly McFadden is their goal line back!!!

pick number 3 or later? your joking right? wow no way. He hasnt proven his career college or nfl he can stay health. If he does he would be top 5 but he wont so he isnt top 5. I would take mccoy and chris johnson over him with ease. I would prolly take sproles also in a ppr over him. Mcfadden/forte/sproles the same. Matthews i also like ahead of mcfadden

how many teams are in ur league? in most cases in a 10 team league... at 8 brady and megatron are both gone so id go brees at 8 then maybe forte or mcfadden at 13.... either that or cj2k at 8 then stafford at 13...

Brees at that spot would be a great pick.

I'd take a real hard look at an elite TE in round 2 in a PPR league.  Here are the numbers for ppr league from last year.

Gronk-327 pts
Graham-288 pts

Both those guys would have been a top 4 WIDE RECIEVER

Welker 122 rec
White 100 rec
Graham 99 rec
Calvin 96 rec
Gronk 90 rec


You take one of those guys, you have a huge advantage every week at that position.  The rest of the draft you stock up on rb's (a position that is really up in the air), and look at some wide receivers that can be very productive in middle to late rounds.

Guys like Decker, Antonio Brown, Willis McGahee, etc. can be drafted in the mid rounds and can be really solid guys...with an elite TE and QB you could be in great shape.

The QB position has more depth that RB this season

Brady, then grab Gronk in the 2nd.  If he is gone, grab Graham.

If Brady is gone, then Calvin.  If you get Calvin, hope and pray Stafford is there in the 2nd.

If Brady and Calvin are gone, then take Brees.  Then Graham or Gronk in the 2nd.

If Brady, Calvin, and Brees are gone, then take CJ2K.  Start crying, crumple up your rankings and start downing beer and make the best out of it.
