Hey guys, i'm in a 12 team standard league (non-ppr).
I'm seriously about to start James Jones over Roddy White.
My reasons why:
1) Roddy White hasn't even practiced this week. Everyone around Atlanta, from the players to the writers, is saying that White is fine, he knows the offense like the back of his hand, and that he'll play and play well. But I had him last year and he tried to play through a nagging injury and put up nothing but 20-35 yards every game. I'm not willing to roll the dice that he does that again this week, and the fact that he couldn't even step on the practice field (even if it's just to rest) is concerning.
2) My other receivers are Dez Bryant and Jeremy Maclin. I know these two guys are not exactly the most consistent receivers, but it gives me a little flexibility with my 3rd WR.
3) Rod Streater is injured for Oakland, and James Jones got 14 targets last week against Houston for 110 yards and a TD. Against the Patriots in New England this week I assume the Raiders will be forced to do lots of throwing. I know James Jones' two touchdowns this season have both been in garbage time while playing catchup. The Raiders will be in that mindset the entire game in my opinion.
Roddy and the Falcons at home vs Tampa Bay on Thursday Night Football, while James Jones and the Raiders are on the road vs the Patriots Sunday.
Do you guys think I should pull the trigger on James Jones over Roddy White this week?
Appreciate your thoughts.

in my big money league we start 2 qb i traded eli manning for alex smith before the season started and i ust picked up derek carr and im going to start him over alex smith... the raiders are usually behind and have to throw a lot so he gets garbage time points, and james jones is obviously his favorite target...

I like it. Gonna pull the trigger on Jones this week over Roddy White.
I think with Alex Smith, you more often than not know what you're getting. I think Smith has the higher floor than Carr week in and week out, but this week, rolling the Dice on Carr is a good play. Like we both said, Oakland is going to have to throw early and often to stay in the game and that should mean good numbers for Carr, Jones, etc.
Thanks for the post

I also go Jones. There's a factor to consider when you have players going on Thursday nights. I too suffered through Roddys injury riddles 2013 campaign. With the garbage time factor and Jones being the alpha in Oakland, this is an easy play.
