In a 12 Team, Single-Player keeper league. Standard scoring. I will be drafting 11th in a snake draft.
Best keeper:
Vick McFadden Gore
*Gore's hip worries me. *McFadden will be a beast in the new offense (as long as he can stay healthy) *Can Vick duplicate his all-world performance from last year?.....Can you REALLY keep a QB?
Leaning McFadden, but Vick is tough to let go.....
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know it's early...

keep Vick and make you first two draft picks RB's. You will be looking at Mendenhall, McCoy, or hell maybe even pick up one of your two RB's you let go.
Or keep Mcfadden/Gore, draft another RB with your first pick and maybe eye Rivers in Rd 2 and maybe even swing Vincent Jackson or Gates after that.
I would probably keep either RB though. QB's are deep this year. I've done a few mock drafts already and I keep seeing Flacco and Cassel falling to round 7-9.
Best of luck with whatever you choose. I can't wait for fantasy football to start.

Two ways you can go about this imo:

McFadden is remotely appealing....there are a lot of teams keeping QB's this year....So....if I keep a solid RB, I should be able to get a decent WR then RB or QB at picks 11 and 14.

Heavy lean at this point to Vick....duel-threat.
Gore OUT of the mix....

In 1 QB leagues there just isn't a lot value in keeping a QB.
Here's what you need to do. Write down the 3 or 4 best players from everyone's team and try and decide who you think they'll be keeping. If it appears most teams will be keeping a RB then assume a shortage at that position and keep McFadden. If it looks like enough people might keep WRs & QBs then you can think about keeping Vick.

I would keep McFadden, reason why is similar reason to blstuart.
I assume most players will keep RB, so assume the top 8 RB will be gone before the draft starts. And now you have the 11th pick, and assume 6-8 RB will be drafted before you even get a chance to draft. So by now at best you will be getting a mid level RB. So if you keep Vick, you will have one the better QB with 2 ok RB's. You keep DM, you will have a solid RB, you can draft a 2nd RB with your 1st pick who will be a ok RB, and snake around and snag a very good QB, there are plenty of them. Or even go WR and get a qb in 3rd or 4th round. Hope this makes sense

You say the scoring is standard. Standard in my league means passing td's are worth 4 pts, and rushing are worth 6. Is this your standard?
I think keeping any qb in a 1 qb setup is foolish. I guarantee there will be at least 15+ RBs off the board before you even get to draft your first one with the 11th pick. So right off the bat the best position for fantasy purposes, hence the fact they are consistently rated the highest are gone leaving you with a huge hole every week. Factor in Vick's injury risk, the fact that he turned the ball over like crazy in the second half of his season, and that he won't rush for that many tds again, and this choice is simple.

How in the world is 6 INTs and 23 Fumbles turning the ball over "like crazy"? Turning the ball over like crazy is Eli Manning's 235 picks.
Although I agree that it is best to keep a RB over a QB, your argument has way too many holes in it to convince anyone.
Even IF every team takes a RB with their 1st round pick, I would either get an ELITE WR and then grab A. Bradshaw, Gore, Moreno, Blount, Hillis or R. Matthews at 14.
My concern with keeping DMF is two-fold....1.) The fractured orbital bone in his eye....2.) He plays for the ever-so-one-dimensional Raiders.

My reasoning is because of the depth of the RB position in the NFL. There is a reason they have the shortest career length in the NFL. You can never tell, no matter how reliable they have been in the past, if the RB you had last year will do anything this year. Last year Peyton Hillis came out of no where to be the top in the league. Take Foster out of the equation and there were 3 QB's and a WR in the top 5 in scoring.
The point I'm getting at is that outside of a select few you don't know what you're getting at the RB position. QB's are pretty consistant, and the Eagles added peices to help Vick succeed. I'd keep Vick, because I don't see anyone else of value at your pick, 11. Vick would be gone way before that and DMF and Gore will probably still be there the next time you pick.

The difference between the PPG for the #1 and #12 QB was HALF of what it was for the #1 to #12 RB.....
6 Teams in my league actually kept their QB......I might STILL have a shot at Vick at pick 11.....but I think I would go RB or top WR with picks 11 and 14.
Thanks for all of the input guys.....good luck to everyone this year.
My draft is 9/1.....late enough to get some of the injuries out of the way!
