In my league we can keep 2 keepers. If you keep a player, you lose the pick in the round they were drafted in the previous year. If you keep a player that you kept the year before, you lose your first round pick for that player. If you keep 2 players that you kept the previous year, you lose a first and second round. If you keep someone you picked up from free agency, you lose your last pick overall. SO......
Which two should I keep? 1. Steve Slaton (would lose my 15th round pick - no brainer here) 2. Clinton Portis (1st round) 3. Kurt Warner (last round - was a free agent pick up) 4. Andre Johnson (2nd round)
My initial thoughts were to keep Slaton and Warner. This would basically give the ability to draft every round except for the last couple rounds. Then I started thinking of keeping Andre Johnson for a second rounder instead of Kurt Warner. The though was that I could get Warner or equal or better at some point while retaining AJ for a second round pick. BUT, then I would be stuck with two players from Houston again - is it bad to have two top dogs from the same team?
Any feedback and opinions would be appreciated.

If I were you I would keep Slaton and Andre Johnson. Slaton is a gimme. I like Warner too but with injuries hes a risk compared to Johnson. Here's my thinking... by doing this you already have a great RB and WR. So in the first round you can snag another great RB (or WR if not) by now you already have 3 top scorers. Then in the 3rd round (or maybe even 4th) you can snag a QB like Warner Rogers Romo Rivers Mcnabb ect. Then target your WR2/TE in the next round (3rd/4th whatever). You will be solid. I could be wrong but I'd say in almost every league this year A Johnson is a 1st round pick so getting him as a 2nd round pick is a gift. GL (I'm assuming this is a 12 man league? If it's 10 that might change things)

Thanks for the input. We are actually a 14 team league so your point makes even more sense.

I would say Slayton and Warner... keepers when you lose draft picks means it is all about the value of who you keep verse where they are going to get drafted i.e. what draft pick you lose Warner and Slayton compared to what their actual value is. Slayton is 1st rounder and Warner is probably a 4-6 rounder depending on your scoring system. For Warner, you not only keep your 2nd rounder but also have what amounts to a 4-6 rounder value but you get him in the last round.
I'll give you an example. I am in a similar type league where you lose draft picks... in 2007, I drafted Favre in round 15. He had a great year in 2007 and I decided it made sense to keep him given his value (verse the value of my other keepers) but I then drafted Drew Brees in the 3rd round becuase of where I percieved value in that position. I created depth for my QB position knowing I had Favre's value later in the draft. I could have easily waited a couple of additional rounds for a qb and used that pick on something else.
AJ while in a keeper draft will go higher is probably a 2nd rounder (I would love to be in a league where managers think AJ is a 1st rounder). In all likelihood you'll be able to draft AJ again or a comparable reciever in the second round

I would keep Slaton and Johnson if you want the best talent. You would have guys on the same teamt though. I guess if you took him that late, Warner should go wit Slaton. What do you pick and how many teams are there? See, I would think if you really still like them you would eb able to draft in th 1st rd another RB, then you would have 2 RB and a great WR. Johnson is def a top 5 WR, and you might not get him back in the 2d rd depending on when you draft. But, having a Warner level QB at the late rd, you won't get again, so it seems to me that is the 2.
