The PK to Kane (who is famous for being AUTOMATIC on penalties) was reminiscent of the infamous "Robben flop" against Mexico. Robben later said "Fue un penal" in Spanish to a Mexican Telemundo reporter ("it was a penalty") with a grin. In other words, it was declared a penalty kick....haha.
It made Colombia play very stressed the remainder of the game, and the fighting that took place later, I believe was a result of the Colombian players' frustrations. Shenanigans. Teams are often equal, esp in low scoring games where ANYONE can win. Refs can tip the scales, make another team work extra hard.
Def player just glances at his feet and Kane falls AFTER realizing that he had no way of being involved in scoring.
Typical strategy. Robben was great at that. Neymar and Ronaldo use it in certain games all game long, especially early. If refs are not calling it, they won't waste their time and energy on flopping anymore. Kane goal was early.
