Hey guys, I have never posted in this forum before but I was reading your comments in the "favourite ethnic food" thread and wanted to share this recipe with all of you. It takes some time to make but it is definitely worth the wait. If you feel that you can not handle spice, just go easy on the chilli powder. It will still taste great.
BUTTER CHICKEN 500 GRAMS BONELESS CHICKEN THIGHS (cut the pieces of chicken in small bite sized pieces)
STEP 1 MARINADE FOR CHICKEN
4 TBSP PLAIN YOGURT
1 TSP SALT/RED CHILLI POWDER/TANDOORI MASALA
HALF TSP CUMIN/CORIANDER POWDER
FEW DROPS OF LEMON
STEP 2 IN PAN MAKE THE ONION PASTE (4-5 minute frying process)
1 LARGE ONION CHOPPED
ADD OIL FOR FRYING
1 TSP CUMIN SEED
1 TSP GARLIC/GINGER
WHEN ONIONS TURN GOLDEN BROWN PUT INGREDIENTS IN BLENDER. (If you like spice, add a couple green chillies in the blender. Don't go too buckwild though, )
STEP 3 IN PAN MAKE THE TOMATOE PASTE (3-4 minute frying process) 2 LARGE CHOPPED TOMATOES
HALF TSP GARAM MASALA/BLACK PEPPER
HALF TSP TURMERIC/SALT/RED CHILLI POWDER
PUT IN BLENDER WHEN TOMATOES ARE COOKED
STEP 4 PUT THE MARINATED CHICKEN IN THE REMAINING OIL FOR 6-7 MINUTES UNTIL IT HAS TURNED WHITE
ADD ONION PASTE SAUCE (STEP 2)
ADD TOMATOE PASTE SAUCE (STEP 3)
1 TBSP OF TOMATOE PASTE
ADD SALT TO TASTE
HALF TSP TURMERIC POWDER
HALF TSP ADD RED CHILLI POWDER
SIMMER ON LOW HEAT FOR 30-45 MINUTES (The longer the better)
STEP 5 ADD HALF CUP OF HALF AND HALF CREAM
SIMMER AGAIN FOR 45 MINUTES
ADD CORIANDER TO THE DISH WHEN FINISHED
