  I have been dipping straight skoal for about 15 years....  past 3 years I have been doing about a CAN AND A HALF A DAY.

 what help is out there to help me quit this?   will nicotine gum work?

shit man that stuff is vile. I tried is once, and got instantly drunk.. its a weird sensation.. Then threw up....

yeah you gotta stop doing that so you dont have to have a chunk of your jaw removed..

I chewed tobacco for 10 years.  Skoal straight was my favorite too.  When the poker boom hit, my addiction really took off.  I quit chewing once for almost a year before I picked it back up again.  Literally one day I said enough was enough.  I just quit, and havent had one in over 5 years.  I still have dreams where I have a chew, and wake up in the morning so disappointed in myself for breaking down.  Only to realize it was a dream.  I still have cravings from time to time as well.  I really loved to chew.  But I am glad that I dont anymore.  If you really want to quit, you can.  If you are not into it 100%, you will not make it.  I didnt do any gum or patches, just quit cold turkey.  I would suggest sunflower seeds as an alternative to tabacco.  BOL

I've been chewing a can of skoal mint a day for the last 7 years or so. I'm going to quit for good as my new years resolution. I've found that beaver chew really helps. The oral fixation really helped me quit for a few months earlier this year. I got drunk at a baseball game and fell off the wagon though. Buy 10 cans of beaver chew and use half beaver chew half skoal and slowly ween yourself off.

   It's a nasty habit that is hard to give up, I have to do it for my daughter now....  Messier I will try your suggestion, thanks man...

Jose< I quit cold turkey once for 3 months then softball season came along and even though I play short it can get pretty boring sometimes out there,

hey man you have to quit. i had a close friend who dipped just like you. never went anywhere without a pinch between cheek and gum. ended up with mouth cancer. suffered for 5 years and was dead before 40.

Dude best advice you will get.

GET THOSE E-Cigarettes.

You can actually quit with these. They are cheaper too than that ridiculous habit. That shit makes the chicks run too man, take my advice.

I quit yesterday...

this is my second attempt

only do about a tin a week if that but still too much

I quit a couple years ago for about 16 months, was drinking one night and fell back on the wagon

Sunflower seeds helped me, I'll let you know If i stumble across anything else

Rocafella-  thanks-- Today is Day#1--- Normally by 10:30 am I would of had 1 large dip thus far- My daughter is sleeping and I am on here trying too stay away , I had 2 full cans at my house and I got rid of them... so far so good...
