What are the usual places? type of cuisine? price range?
Have fun in the wet weather this wknd (heard its raining there, but supposed to clear up by mid/late Sat) and the CNY parade is going on also on Saturday

Wife and I stayed at the Clift and ate at Oola on 800 block of Folsom. Very tasty, cool, small joint. We usually eat at the slanted door and stay at four seasons and eat at the hotel. Will check back NC to see if you need any help. KQC no rain!

thanks--is union sq a good area for a first time visitor ? it looks like BART is ideal for exploring the area as well

I lived 2 blocks from "Fog City Diner" below Coit Tower for half a dozen years in the '90s. Great bar, oysters on the half, and fun menu, killer drinks, etc. Good vibe as a start up place before hitting the City.
It's right at around Pier 23.
Speaking of Pier 23, that's a great bar on a Sunday afternoon to drink.......

If you like really wild ass fricking hot Sechaun(sp) food, go to Brandy Ho's on Columbus Street... It's about 3-4 blocks North of the Transamerican Building as you are approaching Little Italy...
McCormick and Kuletos is one of my favorite restaurants there. My Doc brother and parents used to go there in the '90s quite a bit. Excellent culinary delight, atmosphere, vies, etc... Highly reccomend this spont. It's on the North side (water) of Ghiridelli Square above Maritime Square just West towards Golden Gate about a half a mile West from touristy Fisherman's Wharf...
If you absolutely half to go to the Wharf (people that live there as I did avoid it like poison ivy)......anyway, go to Aliotos...It's a mainstay of The City....
Great bar at Hyde and Broadway (i think its Broadway) just before Ghiridelli Square called beuna Vista. It's at the Bay stop of one of the trolleys. Alledgedly, they claim to have invented Irish Coffees.... Regardless of fact or fiction, ya gotta get on while you're there....
