Am currently (well constantly !) experimenting a bit with split types and volume ect in a bid to find what works best for me, am interested to hear from other "lifters" what routine has given them their better / best gains ?
There seems to be so much differing opinion out there about this

personally, I've also performed similar splits to those posted above, ie hitting each body part once / week. Recently though I'm trying something a bit different, and, in the opinion of some if not most, something that will probably be considered "over-training" or certainly borderline in that regard.
Anyway, the split I'm following is as follows:
day one - back + biceps
day two - chest + shoulders + triceps
day three - legs
day four - back + biceps
day five - chest + shoulders + triceps
Have decided to try this because it allows me to get a lot more exercises in for each body part because I'm hitting them twice per week. That is with the exception of legs, which for me just don't recover quickly enough to be hit twice in the space of a week.
Not sure how long I'll be able to sustain this split before soreness and fatigue overtake my recovery, particularly on chest / tricep days, but thus far I'm enjoying the change from just slugging one b/part per session.

I never got very good gains on my arms until I did them on their own day. I used to do back/biceps and chest/triceps, but those arm muscles were usually wasted from the compound movements and had no strength left for iso lifts at the end.
