1) Your diet coke is not the culprit in regards to your weight gain. You need to drink 25 liters Diet Pepsi to get the amount of calories that is in an apple. But of course you can say it is not very nutritious and water is better since it help detox your body and thus lose weight. So cutting down on the diet coke might be a good idea for your general health.
2) If you can avoid it do not eat late at night. If you do have to eat late it has to be very restricted. link
3) Exercise but you know that. But studies also show that people who exercise during the day and then eat late still might pack on the pounds.
4) The foods you eat. Lots of fiber rich foods will make you full.
5) Low calorie foods. Carrots is great. 100 g 36 calories. You can google those.
6) If you need to cut weight you most likely need to cut your carbs. Pasta, Rice and white bread are your enemies. Cut down on that. These things also have a crazy amount of calories in them. I found that i easily could cut my pasta/rice intake from 200 g to 100 and 50% per meal and then i added more parsnips, carrots, broccoli and such to make my full.
7) Get your lean meats (protein in it)
8) Drop processed foods. That stuff will kill you full of sugar, sodium (salt).

i learned to eat how people back in the day used to eat. back in the day meaning before mcdonalds and all the other crap because those guys weren't obese. they ate plain foods and they survived. i started to eat just meats and vegetables, not using a lot of salts or condemnments, not a lot of bread, not a lot of sugar, drank water, eating fruits, etc. i took it seriously and pretended to be a caveman and ate like one. whatever they didn't eat back then i didn't eat today. and i also don't eat before bedtime, get a full night of sleep, wake up in the morning and drink water until i shit my brains out.

I have the voice in my head that says "don't eat this" but i feel in a way I destroy the evidence when I eat the food, and by the end of the day i don't even realize what I have ate or with how many calories. So, what I'm going to start now that the holidays are over is write down what i eat, this way the food doesn't disappear

hit the treadmill for 30-45 mins 4-5 days a week at 4.5 mph incline 1.5 to 2. drink only water, eat 5-7 times a day. foods i eat for breakfast, high fiber whole grain English muffins, light butter, one egg and style and a banana. maybe coffee if i am tired, but only 4 to 5 ounces. oatmeal occasionally. for snacks any fruits or veggies, pb wheat cracker or sharp cheddar wheat crackers, granola bars, trail mix, fiber one bars, NO CANDY. for lunch a lean meat sandwich on 100% whole wheat, one piece of cheese light condiments, for dinner sometimes same as lunch, usually grilled chicken and uncle bens whole grain rice, sprinkle some cheese on it. lean meats are good, lots of fruits and veggies. if you drink, light beer only, for weekday drinking i would suggest miller 64 or select 55, yea your friends will rip on u but fuck them they will respect if your trying to lose weight.
7am - small meal
10am - snack
12pm - small meal
3pm - snack
5pm - snack or small meal
8pm - snack
10pm - light snack
yea it sucks but once you do it for while it gets easy
every once and while u need to cheat or u will go crazy, be patient and set achievable goals. your not in that bad of shape, my dad graduated high school at 165 and is now 275. i see his struggles but he doesnt get that you need to change your life style.
good luck

You should be able to find a good low cal if any cal...popcorn. That shit will fill you up. Tons of water. low cal beer, if you aren't giving everything up.....
Steamed veggies, as far as I know, is the best way to cook the best shit to eat.
Protein shakes made with whey protein, maybe some chopped up fruit put in about 24 ounces of whatever your favorite juice might be.

POPCORN? LOL. Way to lose pounds! Even without butter or salt, they pack as much as 1,500 calories in just 10 ounces. Now who eats just ten ounces of popcorn in one go, especially if it's as a "filler"?

Cut the diet pepsi. It contains aspartame, which will fuck you up.
There is evidence that consumption of artificial sweeteners affects ones ability to naturally regulate calories and results in binge eating There is also this
Cut yourself down to a 2000 calorie diet and exercise 5-6 times per week, 30 min minimum. Break the 2000 calories down to 5 meals a day, about 3 hours apart

Just like JimMack said........exactly........
Borat, how much do you need anyway?
Sheesh, I guess it's tough for a lot to lose weight, but it's quite a mental thing, and I never hear antone mention that. I've trained about a dozen runners that ended up being better than me. Just like a diet......stretching and shit is just a part of it. Running is all mental. If you hate it you can't run 5 miles (unless you're military and made to)
I wish I could directly help people lose weight, but I'd have to hang around with them everyday for a month to get them started.
Something myself and whomever would not want.
I wish I could help, but once again, half of it's mental. IMO
Boberts, you don't seem too out of hand. Your not so far gone that'd be difficult to reach your goals.

boberts, eating late does have an effect, I've found that out for myself. I lost about 15 lbs in 3 months (while still maintaining the same amount of exercise and meals during the day) by just going to bed early (11 pm lights out) and hence skipping my midnight TV snack.
Also, I've read somewhere about how artificial sweeteners like aspartame can screw your brain's recognition of fullness. Found that out for myself too. When sugarfree Mentos gum first came to the market, I used to pop 2 or 3 mints after every meal, and after barely 2 hrs, always found myself hungry again. Not just normal hungry, but the hunger that keeps pounding you with the message: "I gotta eat, I gotta eat, my stomach is empty." But how could that be when I just had a full meal 2 hrs ago? So I decided to take apart my diet, and finally hit on the bull's-eye: when I stopped the post-meal mints, the hunger pangs went away. I've also since stopped drinking diet soda, as they have the same effect. Just regular juice in small amounts or even better, water.
