Here are a couple of easy appetizers that I have recently done andare good for a gathering (not sure if I have posted these before).
- about 2 shelled shrimp
- some crab meat (fake kind will do if necessary) - tis is optional. - bout 1/2 stick butter, tony sachories seasoning, black pepper, little salt - fresh garlic (minced) - bout 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauc and red wine
- some shredded mozzerella to put on top
- Put the shrimp (and crab meat if using it) in a medium baking dish.
- Bring everything else to a boil.
- Pour over shrimp and crab. - put in oven for bout 10 min at 400.
- remove from oven and sprinkle cheese on top.
Serve with fresh sourdough or asiago cheese bread. I like this spicy so I would add some tobasco but this depends on the crowd you are hanging with.
Good part is taht you can make it early and then just reheat as the people show up. Plus you have a bottle of wine left over.

- baby spinach, nice cheese: sliced mozzerella, smoked gouda etc..., blue cheese crumbles, sweet italian peppers, kalmata olives, cherry tomatoes, several kinds of good quality salami, cappicola, proschuito (no idea if that is spelled correctly) etc.. all sliced, red wine vinegat, nice olive oil.
Make a layer of spinach on a tray. Cover the spinach with plenty of the meats, followed by the sliced cheeses, followed by the olives, tomatoes, peppers, then throw on some blue cheese crumbles. Put some cracked black pepper on top and then drizzle on some olive oil and vinegar.
This can be made real early but be sure to put the oil and vinegar on at last minute so it does not make things too soggy.
Other things to add if you want are: fresh basil leaves, artichoke hearts, oreagno, pepperocinis ets...

Antipasta Salad (great for a group as well).

potstickers (I have posted this before but it is real good). Warning this is much more time consuming but worth it if you have the time.
- pound of ground pork, 1 egg, green onion finely chopped, sweet pepper finely chopped, fresh minced ginger (this is a necessity).
- mix all obove ingredients in a bowl and mix around. Add in a little of any of the following: soy sauce / hoisen sauce / spicy thai chili sauce / salt pepper as you see fit (not necessary but ok if you want). Then take about a spoonful of the mixture and put it in a dumpling wrapper and fold it over and wet the sides with water to seat it and form the dumpling (dumpling wrapper will give you directions for this).
- In a sauce pan heat a small layer of olive oil or peanut oil if you have it to medium high heat. Add in the dumplings in batches cooking about 4 - 5 minutes on one side and then flip and repeat on the other side until both sides are golden crispy. This is how I have done it in the past and it was excellant but I was informed on this site that another way to make them is to bromn one side and then add in a small layer of chicken stock to the pan (without turning the dumpling) and cover a steam for a couple of minutes then remove the lid and take out the dumplings.
For a dipping sauce make a mixture of soy sauce, thai chili paste, and fresh ginger.
spank it pufters.

nachos. Sounds easy but takes some attention to make them properly.
tortilla chips, sweet italian peppers, jalapenos, shredded mozzerella and cheddar cheese, onion, kalmata olives (optional), fresh lime, fresh garlic, blue cheese crumbles.
- Put some foil on a baking pan. Put a layer of chips on the foil. Add a healthy serving of cheese, and some of all of the veggies listed above.
- Put this in the oven that is on broil for about 2 minutes (careful this will burn QUICKLY). Then remove. This is a criticla step because it is to have cheese on the bottom layer of chips. How annoying is when everytime you eat nachos and after the top layer of goodies there is nothing but plain chips underneath.
- After remove from the oven repeat the building of another layer process. Then squeeze a healthy amount of fresh lime juice on top (gives this a great flavor) and add on some blue cheese crumbles.
- Put back in broil for another 2 - 3 minutes.
damn gina.

The pot stickers are money .... actually delicious.
I had kind of small wrappers though. Like 4 inches square which made them kind of small but they were darn good. Went ahead and cooked the pork first and came out great. Forgot the sweet pepper but used lots of green onion and ginger.
