I like old books been an avid reader sense I could covered the encyclopedia britanica all volumes by the time I was in 6th grade.  any way reading "Reeces Medical Guide" ,Published Albert Colby and Sons Baltimore 1873... It was a guide to frontier medicine in the west taking a lot research from the civil war.... on page 656 sec 24 states.

" Lettuce.-This common article ,cultivated in our garden for table use, is found to have a milky juice, which upon drying resembles opium , not only in its appearance and sensible properties, but in its medical virtues; and is more preferable to that drug, as it effects the nervous system less , though equally anodyne in its effects. It may be obtained in the shops in the form of tincture of which a teaspoonful is ordinary dose "

simply written modern 21st American English it stops the pain without the addiction.....

Diabetes type one is a defect in insulin production and very hard to treat outside of injection of insulin.

Type two is treatable. sugar is found  in carbohydrates c1h201 molecules and any times greater sugar cain is c11 h22o11 I believe might got the order carbon=c hydrogen =h oxegen 0 and is necessary for energy. too much complex carbo hydrate anything larger than glucose 5105 is when insulin must be produced . simpliest solution is diet avoid complex sugars. cane sugar/ maple syrup/ others substitute stevia a naturalherb with sweetness equivilant to nutra sweet.

    Nature,
Just wanted to tell you, i bought some of this wild lettuce stuff for my wife, because she gets very painful periods most months.  Nothing really helps either.  She took some drops of this lettuce stuff and went right to sleep, and not waking up once during the night.
So thank you for the good info, wife thanks you also

....glad this could help ease suffering.     a sleep aid I found... is a fern known as a fiddlehead in northeast of north America. these are a specific fern with a dark green fern covered by a copper shell resembling a new penny found on sandy river banks that flood  this fern yields a Prozac type substance in the tea formed when boiling the fern for consumption boiling is necessary to remove any bacteria from flooding and to make the fern tender ....the fern itself as well as  the black tea is a bland not really any taste and can be sweetened and added milk to make more palatable the fern once boiled is served as a French cuisine with salt and butter and little vinegar or can be used a substitute instead of pasta with a tomato based sauce the effects are sleepy, content happy and a full feeling found.... the euphoria is mild, but the ability to sleep is a god send to those enduring insominia from pain or racing thoughts.

....glad this could help ease suffering.     a sleep aid I found... is a fern known as a fiddlehead in northeast of north America. these are a specific fern with a dark green fern covered by a copper shell resembling a new penny found on sandy river banks that flood  this fern yields a Prozac type substance in the tea formed when boiling the fern for consumption boiling is necessary to remove any bacteria from flooding and to make the fern tender ....the fern itself as well as  the black tea is a bland not really any taste and can be sweetened and added milk to make more palatable the fern once boiled is served as a French cuisine with salt and butter and little vinegar or can be used a substitute instead of pasta with a tomato based sauce the effects are sleepy, content happy and a full feeling found.... the euphoria is mild, but the ability to sleep is a god send to those enduring insominia from pain or racing thoughts.

Mr. lorenzos son had a rare condition his brain was deterating from bad cholestrol but good colestrol would improve it so he went to a chemist and found an oil that had all the good cholestrol and non of the bad to give his son the fda and dea was hot on the trail but it came down to that the oil wasnt banned and as long as it wasnt being sold he could spice his sons salad as he desired it became the now the basis of treatment with individuals with this disorder and inspired the movie LOrenzos oil.
this lettuce stuff is similiar you can not sell or bartyer a herion equivilant but you can use lettuse in any form for salad as you desire.
my humble opinion the doctors are paid a fortune to sell prescription opiates to americans, the pharmacuticals that manufature these opiates are paid a fortune, they in turn make it hard for other non pharmacutical drugs to surface because they are paid even more in methadone clinics and anti addiction clinics nation wide to combat the addiction caused by the product they are pushing into the american lifestyle.
this alternaticve to their "pain management agenda" will in turn collapse a trillion dollar empire. it aint rocket science its the drug companies making a fortune off the misery and suffering of americans but i am far too old to care what they can do to me.

    bottom line
this product tends to uproot a 4 trillion 20 year plan in their market.

Looking at a old Manuel written in French. So for me it takes a while their is a plant that grows in water called wapatato. It has an arrow leave on the surface and tubular fiber under the surface the juice from this plant has been used to treat wound care. It has an annti bacterial agents and pain easement. The tubular structures are not present till autumn so I have not done any real evaluation of the substance. But it is an interesting manual after translation it seems to fit the cursor for legit ways of the old people to help their suffering.
