Now that I have all of the Canadian's attention.....
Let's make some money.
So, as sports gamblers, we all know that these provincially regulated gambling vehicles give you ridiculously bad odds. Not only that, but they force you into parlays.
I'm sure we've all bet them. This is how I personally got my start in the sports betting world. They pay cash in hand, same day. You can get them at every gas station and corner store in the country. Because they do force you into parlays, the payouts always look tempting.
Enough. They are garbage. Just for fun, compare a 3,4,5, etc game parlay through SS (generic name for all them) with ANY online book. What did you find? They pay 10-30% less than your book.
How to beat SS;
There are a few ways, but the one I will bring up today is line moves. I'm going to use basketball, because it is what I am most familiar with.
In our sportsbook world, the lines move as money comes in on both sides of the wager. If LA opens at -4 and get's bet to -6, we will likely pay around 20% to get that line back to -4 (buying points). This is where the value comes in. SS's lines are static. They are set the night before, and DO NOT MOVE. They opened at 4, they stay at 4, and you just got yourself a free 2 points.
This works particularly well for line moves associated with injuries. SS will pull those lines, but they don't pull them because of the injuries, they pull them because of the lopsided action, and the fact that they CAN'T use dynamic lines. This means you have usually have 1-4 hours before it's "caught".
In the marathon that sports gambling is, making/saving these few points can easily be the difference between profit and loss.
